Title: NHRA Train Class?
Post by: Canada Phil on February 28, 2007, 04:44:33 am
The following from Speed Sport News.
Does the NHRA have a train class? In mid-February in France, its high-speed luxury train, the TGV (Train Grand Vitesse), on a test run for a planned record attempt in April, was clocked at 334 miles per hour, eclipsing its 17-year-old speed mark of 320 mph. The run was on the Paris to Strasbourg tracks. The NHRA’s all-time speed record is 336.16 mph set last November by Tony Schumacher in his Top Fuel dragster in Pomona, Calif. But the TGV’s daily passenger runs top out at 186 mph say the French, making the TGV more Pro Stockish than Top Fuelish.

 Gotta love those TGV

Probably took the TGV(S) a bit longer to get up to speed though Phil!

That is too fast for something with that velocity to travel on two thin strips of metal. It will end in tears I'm afraid :'(

Hi Steve,
