Gee that helps ::)
-
severe lack of CA banner noted :police: not that I'm jealous or anything
-
An 'S' free forum might be nice for a couple of days at least. :-X
-
I agree with Piglet, there's no need to rub it in.. >:(
-
You stay-behind lot think you're depressed eh?
Well i took a very exited Smokie and Doris to LGW this morning and then a couple of hours later I had to sit in my office and watch their respective planes take off through my office window. :(
Now that is tough!

could drive a man to drink ;)

I'm already there (albeit I'm not a man!) ;D

Oh Andy, it's not as bad as it could have been!
If all had gone to plan, you would have had to watch my plane take off too. As it is, I've saved you that.

Oh come on guys and gals. Don't be so small minded. I planned to go to Sebring this year but work came in between. Sod it and move along. There will be Sebring in 2008. Besides, be proud that some of us hold the CA flag up in Sebring.
-
??? Hansgerd, FFS we are only JOKING that we are really down about not going! Kind of reverse inverse schadenfreud that probably doesn't translate very well into German. We are of course happy for those that are there and maybe a little green with envy but of course good luck to them. Anyway I might nip over there tomorrow to see if they're ok. ;)
-
maybe a little green with envy
Andy,
A little? Is that what is know as inverse overstatement, or a euphemism for being as green as a little man from Mars? Having sat through three two-hour meetings today, without the benefit of a view of the outside world, that achieved the square root of f**k all, I'm more than a little green with envy at those more fortunate than I in this regard. Consumed would be a good word. Good luck to them all, bless them, and best they get a CA banner up on that contraption soon!

Well maybe having a great time but..... according to one of my photo buddies it's "raining here in biblical proportions"!
Mail was timed at just before 11 our time last night so hope Camp Pidge and Turn 10 are standing up to it!
-
any piccies to savour the luvverly weather??
-
Andy, remember the downpour two years ago where we all were like drowned rats? Even Pidge's tent caved in because of the water. Anyway, it's happening again. I just hope it clears out tonight for the big race in the morning. I wish we were there but maybe tomorrow would be better.

But one of the R10's did not..................................... ;)

They stopped the Panoz race because of a bad storm. I feel for the guys that are there. They may have an understanding of what a downpour of rain is really like. I surely hope it clears up soon. This may be a bust otherwise to see who can make like a motorboat best.

Yeah me two, how I feel for them...

Well the wearther here has been very good lately. I might even get the chance to Mow the lawns again tomorrow. I did them last weekend for the first time. but it was a bit damp so now it's all dried out t a bit tufty so another go should make them look PDG.
T.
OH and do I feel for them. I think not. ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Hope they are having a good time.
One year, one f**k*ng year, I'll be there.
Not that i'm envious or anything like that.
-
Serves me right for being mean though, our bloody TV went bang overnight. Too skint to go to Sebring, spashed out our wedding money on a new camping trailer we picked up this morning and now we need a new bloody TV! :'(
-
according to Mark JPC they endured a mini tornado on the campsite, cost a lot of tents and money but they are ok
-
Apologies for plugging another forum but there is a link on here for onboard coverage for Sebring. Can't be arsed to retype it!
http://www.ten-tenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94802
It's well worth having to download IE for.
Yeeee haaaa!!!
-
Working fine for me in Firefox...Thanks Piglet.
go here http://www.americanlemans.com/home/ALMSHome.aspx and find the Speed onboard pass link, register and get the free coverage...
or here http://gms.speedtv.com/
I'm enjoying Camera 2 Penske Porsche at the moment with globecast commentary in the background.

**can someone clever tell me how to modify my post so that the photo shows without having to click the link? I've tried but can't make it work!
-
Have you clicked the Additional options button underneth the the big white text box you type in?
You should see a box that allows you to attach an image, Maximum attachment size allowed: 2000 KB,.
push the browse button and if you have saved the image to your desktop you should then see it listed.
I just tried it with your image and it should work just fine!

whoo hoo thanks Nordic! I've learnt something new today!

Pity about the 'old' shirts.........
Del
-
Well I didn't like to say but the bloke who's organising the new shirts is a bit slow at getting them out ;D
-
Why did I expect that response???
Have to wait now 'til Paddy returns from Sebring, sobers up, re-acclimatises, gets over jet-lag etc etc, and mails the shirts to me. As soon as I get them, I'll ship them out. Should be with you by end March.
Have a nice barbie - or is that just to keep you warm??
Del
-
I'm glad not to disappoint Del ;D
It's beautifully warm here,almost tropical....
(...inside with the heating on ;D )

Whoooo hooo (again!) we got a mention on Globecast!
Hindy mentioned Flying Lizard Racing, Team JPC, Drinking for Holland and Club Arnage on their coverage - they all said "hello" to the rest of us left behind! ;D
-
nice :D
-
gonna have to do this race one year, shocking weather before though.... at least it turned out nice again!
Just feels like its missing something with the AMR boys.
Roll on June :)

Didn't hear the mentions of CA etc. on Globecast earlier but still good to just listen and hear Hindhaugh et. al. Makes June seem just a little bit closer.... Now just off to pour another glass of wine and settle down to listen to the end of the race.
-
I hope our CA brethren over the otherside of the pond were not too pissed come the last lap, otherwise they will have missed quite possibly the most exciting end to the GT2 race ever. Melo and Bergmeister door to door round turn 17.

I realised that I've typed Flying Lizard Racing when what I think I meant was Team Impala - sorry, slightly too much Stella was consumed ;D
-
What a finish. I literally came up off the couch when Bergie passed Melo just before turn 17. Bergie had position and Melo bumped him and it wasn't unavoidable contact. NASCAR has invaded our sport.

I got home from the track at about 2.00am this morning. I think it is safe to say that a jolly good time was had by one and all. Despite some inclement weather on Thursday/Friday, which caused some tent aviating, flooding and the (could-have-been) catastrophic collapse of the Turn Ten "Grandstand" - everyone was in good shape, by the time I arrived at Hendrick Field, at about 8.30am Saturday. Well I say everyone..... apparently Mark Every (JPC) had been singing again and was still in his pit, according to Steve Brown, recovering from yet another rousing performance of 'Mustang Sally'.
It was great to see the familiar faces at Pigeon's Breakfast ('Santa' Phil, Pidge, Steve, Gab, Gab's brother, Smokey, Bob U and Chris). I figured the race was going to start at 10.00am sharp, but was laughed-at and scorned. So I was still standing in the detritis of Camp Pigeon, enjoying my breakfast (4 cans of Nigerian Lager - well, it was St Paddy's) when the grid howled away, at, erm, 10 o' the clock.
I had my manservant/son-in-law, Seth in tow, to take care of coolbox dragging and driving duties, and this allowed me to waft around the spectator enclosures with grace and ease. We spent a couple of hours at the hairpin, before the inevitable trudge to Turn 10 (Abandon hope, all ye who enter here). The place had a very orange feel to it. After courting favor of presence to Turn 10 head-honcho, the venerable Jupiter John, who is one of the nicest guys I ever met, who should pop-up off the sofa, but old baldy himself, Andrew Zarse! He was clearly tired of the "What the f*ck are you doing here?" greeting - and had clearly partaken of an alcoholic breakfast himself, but it was a special surprise that he had made it after all.
I think I bumped-into just about everyone on the forum, who made the trip - it was a pleasure to meet them for the first time - or to renew past acquaintences.
The weather stayed fine, I didn't quite run out of beer, though had to rely on my cache of 'Safety Bud' towards the end and I didn't incur the wrath of 'er indoors for coming home burned to a crisp as I usually do.
I want to say a special thankyou to The Amazing Randy Prewett - who makes all of us so welcome, in his role of Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Turn 10/Team Impala. And thanks again to Jupiter John and Lee Self for the hospitality and friendship. Also a special mention has to go to Paddy Slabberkoorn and his orange army - JLU's all of 'em! I am fearful of another jumbo boozing session tonight, as a farewell until June - it's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.
What a great weekend - and to all of you's who couldn't make it (US based or from Europe), we missed you, had a few beers in your honour - and will hopefully see you in Florida next year (or maybe in Georgia for the Petit Le Mans, later this year).
Matt

Glad you made it home safe and sound. Thanks for the report, surely wish that I could have been there. We are expecting grandbaby #2 any day now so it would have been a bit risky to try and I would have certainly caught hell from the family if I had missed the birth. and she didn't have the baby this weekend, so there...
Anyway, I will be in Houston on April 20th so if any one is down that way, let me know, otherwise I guess I'll be the only CAer there. Petite may be a possibility, just don't know yet. Stay tuned....
-
Thanks for the update, it sounds like it's been a ball.
Can't wait for the pictures and video ;D
-
Oh my god, what a week...
It's really nice to see that shot of the scaffolding. Because in the storm on thursday it came down!
first lightning, then HAIL, then I said to the dutch "y'now what usually happens next? a tornado"
then we had 60 mph winds for about 45 minutes...
You should have seen Sponge Bob on top of the Party barge just up the track from T10. He was laid out backwards riding the storm out. I was just like a Stevie Ray Vaughn video where he plays in the driving rain. When the wind and water stopped the scaffolding had been lifted off of its supports and went over backwards. needless to say when we put it back up for raceday it had a few less banners on it, no tarps for shade and all 3 flagpoles had been snapped like twigs...
Saw the Audi wreck, awsome. I got a big piece and brought it home, you see I'm making a racecar...
the race was good, really good. Congrats to the Acura guys, they really did there homework.
I get my slides back this afternoon at 5:00. We'll see what I got
Cheers to all, what a great crowd we had HUP HOLLAND. Keep Drinking!
And as a full member of Club Arnage, we were very well represented.
When you see No Panic, ask to see the head of my Golf Club which he snapped off
at the Driving Range Sunday Morning...

severe lack of CA banner noted :police: not that I'm jealous or anything
As last year I took two 7 foot banners, one for T10 one for Pidge, I think this shot was a bit early.
>Martini...
-
you are absolutely right there Martini,
the shot was taken to early, we were still putting all the stuff on the scaffold, of course by the time you guys got to see it, the storm had blown most of it away. However the CA banner you made was salvaged and is probably hanging in Micarr's warehouse right know.

Wow, that looks like quite some party... :o devastation all around. ;D

Happily Mr T's still works - I think he had the brains to put his in the car to dry off!
Setting off for PR on Saturday with his D2H and will try my best not to get it soaked too.
We still had a great time in spite of the storm although I had a tough time explaining to the airline that my bag was overweight because it was 50% water on the way home. Hopefully LM will be a bit better weather wise. Great to see you all again and meet our US friends whose hospitality was nothing short of incredible; I don't suppose they had quite banked on having a load of soggy, p*ssed Europeans sleeping on their camper floors. And woah, didn't those GT2 guys put on a great show as ever? Sadly, a power cut meant that my recording of the race was f*cked - must look out for the highlights prog on Motors...
-
We've got pretty well the whole Motors coverage on hard drive. If I can ever work out how to get it off I can put it on DVD (s?) for someone to play with.
-
That would be just great, Piglet! I can make copies/delete ads, whatever, for others if necessary.
-
Ok, will consult KK and find out how to get it off the hard drive.
Do you want to pm me your address details?
No promises on a timescale but will try to do shortly....
-
I had a tough time explaining to the airline that my bag was overweight because it was 50% water on the way home.
Same here, though mine was 47lb. dry on the way down, and 46lb. wet on the way back. I can only surmise that their scales are full of sh**. Either that or my DfH t-shirt somehow counts as negative weight. ;D
-
Somehow my bags where way lighter on the way back.....
-
So was mine, 24Kg on the way out ooops!! 23Kg on the way back, albiet I lost one of the white DfH tops in the storm. but had 6 extra T's.
Total bagage was 20Kg up as I packed everything I bought out there in the cooler and had it shipped home. All arrived in one peice and last on the luggage belt as usual.

Good news - after 24 hours with its battery removed and sitting in a nice warm house, my D70 decided to start working again! Good old Nikon... :)

I will be sorting thought them this weekend and then will set them up on my website. I have not done a complete redesign of the website and have not photoshopped any images but that is the project for the weekend. (Photoshopping will only be to enhance colour where is needs it.) (I may put before and after shots on anyway.) It will go through Simpleviewer to stop people simply downloading them. If you would like to use any then I will email you the original. If they are to be used on public viewing then I will require the photo to show credit on my behalf.
I will post on CA, DfH and SebringFans when it is complete.

Tried the same with my camera, still knackard, but it looks nice as a door stop or paper weight!

A few to be going on with. More when I get back from Ricard (plus a few from there, I suspect)

Cool - I'll try and sort it on Sunday - what sort of DVD do I need to put it on? (talk slowly, I may not be blond but I might as well be with technology these days....)
-
Paddy, love the before and after Southern Comfort pictures of Chris. But in retrospect I'm suprised he had time to drink that amount inbetween eating ;D

Hey Termie, how did that "Who's your..." picture work out? ;)
@Bob, now I know why he has '24' behind his name, that's how long it took to finish that bottle! ;D

Hi Martini,
well that first pic certainly explains why I could not get the pole to retract on Sunday morning. Flag survived though.
That High Test Vodka carries a punch eh!

Phil, did you get the Motor Sport in the end? Great to see you again. Mr Termite's talking about maybe doing Mosport one day.....

July/August is a good time for Mosport. Cold beer

Just back. Fortunately Key West wasn;t all it was cracked up (!!) to be ;D, we had a wonderful time...
More later, in the meantime here's a couple from Sebring...
-
Mrs T the DVD's are on their way to you. 2 DVD's with the all but the first half an hour and then a few minutes missing at around 10pm where I buggered up the recorder!
The discs have been finalised but KK had to condense the footage to get it onto two DVD's - hopefully you can still edit it.
-
all but the first half an hour and then a few minutes missing at around 10pm where I buggered up the recorder!
Tut Tut. You must have missed the finish. Still never mind, the way Termie was raving about the GT2 finish she could retell it yard by yard
-
It's OK, I got it going again so I only lost a few minutes. I had to alter the machine and tried to do it during the ad break but it all went badly wrong so I lost a few minutes of the coverage ;D.
Never fear the end is taped ;D
-
Thanks for that Piglet, I'll let you know when it arrives. :)
-
DVDs have arrived safe and sound, am currently downloading them to do an edit. Who needs copies? I also have the Motors TV 2 hour-ish round-up if anybody is interested.

Yes please

Me too, por favor

Bob & Steve : Round-up or full race?

Termie,
That would be fantastic.
Thanks.

Termie,
If you can include me, the Round-Up would be marvelous.
Whilst only my t-shirt, and not me, went to Sebring, I don't think I could handle seeing the whole thing!!

Bob,
It looks like here could be a big family holiday in Florida next Easter. Us 4, my sisters and their families (My God Son, GRRRRR), my mum etc.
It could work out very nicely indeed. What are the dates for Sebring 2008? Oooohh, there it is, I've said the S word (with reference to 2008)
Easter is V early next year, sometime mid/late March. School hols are not over Easter, they're in April.
again.

Just a couple of blank DVD's at LM in June will be fine. Pse PM me your snail-mail address. Can you cope with DVD+Rs?
-
One round-up copy for me please Termie. I'll pm my address details.

Debs have you been able to confirm that all the footage is OK? We're going to have to bin it from the hard drive this weekend.

Nearly 6 hours in to the first run and so-far-so-good! I'll keep you updated.
I guess you need the space for tonight's race? :)
-
It is run on the 12th weekend of the year!
Ironic because:
12 Hours of Sebring is run on the 12th Weekend
24 Hours of Le Mans is run on the 24th Weekend
Spooky!!!

Yup!
I quite like these nightime races we've put Sky TV in the bedroom so I can now go to sleep to the sound of race cars for that full on LM simulation!! ;D (I appreciate that's because I'm a lightweight wot sleeps during LM!)
-
You've seen the "before" now here's the "after"
Another one appeared "during"...

Yup!
Piglet - about time you upgraded your Sky box to the one with the bigger hard drive - up to 80 hours recording time ;D ;D
Could just about get the whole of ALMS and LMS on that.
Del

Nah I can't bear the thought of paying more money to Sky we've got a separate combined DVD/Hard disk recorder.
Used to have Sky plus but the bloody thing used to die on a regular basis taking all the recordings with it!
-
The first disc was all fine. Now onto the second!
True, Delboy, the 250 gig hard-drive recorder is very useful when Motors film the whole of LM, plus the qualis! However, none too clever if you go to Sebring and have a power cut while you're away so fail to record the whole thing. Humph. Thanks again, Piglet.
-
... up to 80 hours recording time ;D ;D
Pah, that's nothing. My TiVo has one 400Gb disk which gives up to (I think) 400 hours at basic. I'm considering putting in a second to double the size. Oh, and it's a much better piece of kit than Sky+ (better EPG, neater user interface, predictive recording, accessible from my LAN and the WWW etc etc...). It's older technology too!!
-
And better than my *ff*n' computer which is studiously refusing to copy the discs! Back to using the good old DVD recorder then. I may be some time...

Show Off ::) Isn't it time you went to Aberdeen 8) ;D where i seem to recall you had no access to anything ???
Welcome back

Who ended up with the Motorsport which I brought over for Phil and Fax III, btw?

Obviously Roy (Knetter) has too much time on his hands ::)
-
Well, to be honest, I missed most of the race while there, for whatever reason ;D So I would actually like to see the race when I have the time, also nice for my archive!
-
Lang Tall has uploaded his photo album, to be found here>> http://gallery.drinkingforholland.com/main.php/v/ALMS_07/Sebring_MvH/
With a little luck he'll help me tonight with my album :D
-
And so I did!

All the DVD copies are done and I'm about to delete the race from my hard drive so anybody else who wants a copy should shout now.
Piglet, do you want an edited copy/highlights or anything?
-
I would love a copy,
can you post it to me at this address:

-

-
I certainly was the last time I looked.
Anyway certainly, Lee, I will make a copy for you (Mr Termite cannot work a DVD recorder so would have been of no help as it happens). Good to camp with you too.

Look at this thing going, thank god everything was still dry in our tent, but it nearly lifted off :o
-
This is a really bad pic' but I put it in because it was actually our tent!
Only the weight of all the beer inside stopped it from going any further.
No bottles of alcohol were harmed during the making of this picture.

The picture doesn't show me holding it down, it probably would have lifted of if I didn't do that....

I think I'll stick to a caravan (trailer to you Yanks) if you dont mind.
With global warming, we could have monsoons at Le Mans soon
-

Here we go, my first go at uploading pics.
These pics were taken at Sebring town centre on Thursday. Was a good place to look at the cars and also get something to eat.
