Title: French police get nasty
Post by: Theo Leggett on June 19, 2003, 12:18:28 pm: Commiserations to anyone who fell foul of the police speedtrap sting on the way down this year. A mate of mine got fined 750 Euros and banned for six months for giving it large in his Lotus. At 750 a throw, they must be making a mint....Anyway, the rule is, up to 50kmh over the limit, you get a fine of up to 135 Euros. More than 50kmh, goodnight sweetheart - banned from driving in France, massive fines payable in cash on the spot and possible confiscation of vehicle.

They use a camera and have road blocks at successive roundabouts. Watch out next year! :'(

Stick to the speed limits!! No fines , no bans great!!!!!

HOWEVER very boring

Ah well just have to take money for the fines I guess

As most of us know radar detectors are illegal in France. I read the other dfay that the fine can be as high as 30000 euros !!!! More than draconian!

No doubt by next year the Guilotine will have been brought back!
