me? well i would love to see Morgan return, with a british line up of say Brundle, Herbert and oh i dunno say Damon Hill, as long as they can all bear not having any hope of winning.
And top flight to take on Audi, hmmmmm, Maserati should do something, drivers i will leave open as long as Michael Shoemaker is not involved.

Not "back" but I'd love to see a Ford GT race in anger at LM.
-
The return of the likes of Mercedes would be interesting, plus a proper Porsche P1 prototype (all closed coupe style please).
-
Would love to see my beloved Alfa Romeo back at Lm one day. Would also like to see a little 2 stroke SAAB at the classic Le Mans in Plateau 3 in 2010 ;D ;D fingers crossed on that one. Oh and would love to see Cream do the Sat night gig whilst we are at it!
-
Oh, and a Mosler would be nice too.
-
oh yes and a Bristol Fighter would be cool.

A nice pair of Bristols would be better, nudge nudge wink wink!

A Piper GTR - built better this time - when they raced (practiced actually - weren’t allowed to race on safety grounds) in 68 they were actually 3 sec a lap faster the class of the field - Renault Alpines. The issue was that there bodywork departed the rest of the car half way down Mulsane. They were about 3" lower than a GT40 and built at what became Emmbrook Engineering in Wokingham when the Engine Tuning division (Piper Cams) split off)
-
Bugatti Veron in race set-up driven by me. Ok it'd have to stop every twelve minutes to refuel but hey, you can't have everything.
How about some nice electric cars, I do find those Audis a bit too noisey.
But I have to agree with Steve Brown. a nice proper Porsche P1 prototype (all closed coupe style please) in Gulf racing livery.

It ran again at the Classic last year, although the reliability factor played a hand. Car looked gorgeous and the girl in the period Piper Racing overalls and not much else that was fettling it wasn't too bad either! I'm sure someone has a picture somewhere.

Derek Bell
Porsche 917 - Gulf Livery
Ferrari 512 - red......
MG Mark

There is only one person, and he is time less.

Agree with Paddy. I had the chance to see them back in the late 80's. Would make up for the lack of noise from the Audis.
-
I'd like to witness Mclaren at LM again as that was the car that drew me into the race in the first place.
But if anyone was to return it would have to be a legendary team that have won before and want to add to their tally of overall wins like Porsche, Jaguar, Ford etc. In a Bentley style comeback.
Overall i think if it was a non British team then Porsche would be most welcome with me.
If it was British then i suppose Jaguar.

My vote's with Termie .... I'd love to see Ford bring 'back' the GT .... ;D

It may even happen http://www.fordgttv.com (http://www.fordgttv.com)
They had a chassis mock up on display at Sebring this year.
-
Sard MC8R for me please! (An early love that bears a certain resemblance to a Saleen - ;D )
Or anything with a nice creative paint job like we used to see in the good ole days.
[And also all the obvious ones like Maclaren, GT40, Jaguar, etc. yadda yadda]

Agree Ford GT40 would be great,
perhaps when they sell Jaguar and Land Rover they might have some spare cash to put into racing.
-
The Jag GT3 car next year would be good.
-
I agree with at of people here and thier prefered makes.
Perhaps I'm biased here, but how about the triumph Siptfire.
At least with a 1147cc engine it won it's class.

The Jag GT3 car next year would be good.
Especially with an Aston in LMP1
They've started making Daytona Cobras again. This was killed off by the GT40 project, but I'll settle for both

Yeah, they gave me 2 t-shirts! :) Hope they make it - if enthusiasm is all that's needed, they'll do it.

I'd love to go back to the Croup C days, witn an unmolested, unsanitised circuit.

Then you'd have loved last weekend. Especially the Friday when there's nobody about and you can wander up and down the pit lane during free practice. The sound of that Mazda from the pit wall was incredible. :P

Go on Termie, just keep rubbing it in why don't ya- we're not at all jealous ;D
Enjoy Bastille day!

I'm suprised that no one has suggested Mr Sunshine. Remember him? Big round yellowy fella, used to hang around in the sky at this time of year. Been a while...

Well next time you'll have to tell Mr Sunshine he's wanted elsewhere!

Thought they were coming back next year - or am I suffering brain fuddle again?

It was mentioned in the Toyota Thread. Could someone expand on this?

Dr. Sconefinger
I belive they are planning to make a race version of the very pretty 8c. Not sure if its a works team, or for priverters.
-
I'd like to see Lotus back (not just the legends and historic events).
The last outing in 1997 was far from triumphant.
And how about the Index Of Performance?
Would that not be of interest to engine developers and OEMs to show off their abilities.

Found it! Not going mad after all

Erta - and the Chicken Man (and no, that's not a bunch of posing pseudo-musicians from the 80's)
The Poulet Roti opposite the old Champagne Cork Bar was the absolute bollox when a beer-sponge was required.
I sort of felt guilty about Erta. I'm not sure what compelled me to stand and gorp at her - I was reduced to an hysterical wreck when one of my buddies offered her some of his chips, however.
Alphonse, the take-on all-comers pugilist was a right laugh too - as was the balloon shooting with snub-nose .38 Specials (with live ammo) in the fairground. Health and Safety, you f*ckin' what?

Nice pic, shame they never realy had the budget to develop the car and race properly

The Alfa 8C race program was mentioned as a GT2 project, however the last I heard it had been canned.

Was the Piper the precurser to the kit roadcar or latter to the car?
I can remember seeing a roadcar car regulary about '73/74 around Richmond Surrey. I was almost 'orgasmic'.

There was one under a sheet in the Richmond / Teddington area in the late 70's on a drive near my aunts house. Could it be the same car? I used to pester Uncle to take me down to see it every time I visited. It seemed other worldly to a small lad from Barnsley!
There was also a lovely converted WW2 motor torpedo boat moored on the Thames that I would go and look at too. Ah- the memories!
-
Mercedes CLK and open cockpit Panoz - both LMP1 in 1999.
Sadly, both now unlikley but the sound shook my ribs as they pulled away from Arnage.
Awsome !
Regards BryanC

Was it just me or were the cars generally quieter this year (Panoz apart)?
2 years ago you could not hear yourself think on the campsite. Or have the voices in my head just got louder?
