As Bamber used to say: here is your starter for ten.

1955 start. Duncan Hamilton squeezing himself into long nose D number 7 and Mike Hawthorn in number 6 ready to move off.

Duncan Hamilton and Tony Rolt about to take a post LM victory lap at Goodwood or Aintree 1953 with Lofty England in the second C Type.

And for the pedants amongst us: did you know that both the winning 1953 C Type and the 1955 D Type carried the same trade number plates? 774RW to be precise.

 Fairly sure that was Aintree.

As I have 'Sprinted' at both Goodwood and Aintree. (came off at Breachs Brook - BIG TIME). But from the picture, I am very sure it isn't Goodwood.

It's Silverstone - Woodcote grandstand in the background.

				Hi Del,
I suspect  the picture was taken some seconds after the "gun"  ::)

Don't you just love those old pix! You can see a very obvious Scotsman in the pits, so proud that he's decided to wear a haggis on his head. And there's another young dude who's decided that today is a good day to wear his bicycle clips.
Lynx might know, but did the D's have handbrakes? I thought they did, but looking at the chocks behind the wheels it seems they probably didn't. I'd have swapped all of my best pants (and some of my worst ones) to have the job of shouting "CHOCKS AWAY!!"
