After 18 years we appear to have dropped off the magic list for camping, so off to
pastures new ,which I think may be good thing after last years
problems, As long as we are not to far away from DFH, JPC ,
Gab,BigH,Bloomer,Sav,Stu, Etc.
I ( We the Liverpol boys ) Don't care

You may indeed be chosen..........
Have a dump in the new pit boxes as a sign of your ethereal qualities :)

Up untill now it definitely looks like you are the Choosen One 8)
Had a phone call from JPChenet today, he knew an address who had 11 tickets left for MB.
So I rang them, and so I bought them all.
We have paid €700 more for our tickets than we normally would have done, so it's gonna be an expensive Friday Night Party, but we ARE on Maison Blanche for LM'08!
This was our only demand to host another Friday Night Party, be safe(r) behind a concrete wall and not have unwanted visitors. You all know the way to Maison Blanche by now, so...
-
700 euros mark up?
I salute you Paddy_NL
See you on friday night ;D

I believe we are still on MB as always. We have always booked through Just Tickets and whilst it is a rip off it saves the annual stress and panic of sorting out the tickets.

Paddy
Thats great news, its just put 25% more on the value of my tickets
PM

All thanks go to JPChenet, Powermite!
Mal, that is great news! JustTickets will definitely have those tickets, I cannot imagine they would bump you onto Bleu Nord and still ask for the full monty...

We are just going to sit tight and see what happens, trouble is that we need so many tickets and all together that there's really no point in all out panic. We'll have a laugh whatever and wherever we may end up. We were jammed down at the bottom of MB last year due to the zoning, that wasn't exactly ideal either.

Fingers crossed for MB here, Rusty! Then again, I'd like all that were on MB (or were supposed to be there) in '07 to be there this year :-\
You might have a chance as you were in zone D last year, all that have dropped out so far seemed to have applied for zone A & B.

Speaking with the ACO today they said that anyone who has been booking with them for 20 Years will get their allocation. Seems a bit of an exageration to me!
I am therefor desperatly after 3 MB tickets but would ideally like 4. We originally booked for 6 tickets so I have a couple of spares to make other people happy but looks like this year it will be down to other people making me happy.
-
Speaking with the ACO today they said that anyone who has been booking with them for 20 Years will get their allocation.
So what about the Liverpool Boys then? ???

this will be the 17th year ive bought tickets from the ACO though,so i think i deserve to be on the list
PM
That doesn't work either - we've been booking direct for 22 years.
And Lorry is out too, while Powermite gets his tickets with `only` seventeen years on the counter.
So they´re selling bullsh!t :-X

The Liverpool boys will be on Blue Nord, cos we accept
with good grace that the fact is that the French have
no organisational skills ( as proved in the 1940s )and
cannot get anything right EVER, Hey! we are only in our
20th year of supporting this event,Speaking personally
if it wasn't for the other Brits, Dutch and American friends
that we meet on a field in France we would BBQ in Liverpool
and forget about subsidising Brittany Ferries Carrefour,Auchan,
local bars etc,etc
-
I've only been pre-ordering the tickets since the mid 90's as before that, you just turned up and paid the man at the entrance to (whichever) campsite.
The fact that I've been going to La Sarthe since 1965 doesn't seem to count........ :'( :'( :'(

They are just a bunch of spineless turncoats that will tell anyone what they want to hear to keep them quiet then change the game as soon as it suits them and f**k everyone else as long as the are OK, they've been pulling that stunt for centuries. A bunch of unwashed garlic munching retard cowards that will sell you down the road with as smile as happily as they would shake your hand and then stab you in the back and at the same time calling themselves resistance fighters. c**ts

So we are on Blue Nord instead of the hallowed ground of MB, I am gutted but am of the frame of mind of well lets give it a go and see what Blue Nord is like. I agree that the ACO could not organise a piss up in a brewrey as far as looking after the thousands of people who visit and camp each year and have done like Del and others from the mid sixties, some in are group have been each year since the late eighty's.
We as a group have never taken more space than we have had tickets for, most years we have given away space to late comers, but this year we will take what we have paid for, if we need it or not. With such a vast reduction in camping space you can just see all the agro with the security monkeys insisting you stay within your spec, well this year I say f*ck them, one peice of advice is to take your invoice to prove how many spaces you have payed for, it does help when trying to explain to the garlic smelling apes that your mate does not arrive until later in the week and the space for him is yours.
Paddy, I am made up that you have got sorted on MB, and no dout we will visit you to enjoy your hospitality again this year as you and drinking for Holland are welcome to some Low Flyers at camp Liverblue Boys.

Surely you should be called the Everton Boys now ;D

Absolutely no problem whatsoever! My guess is the Friday night Party would be rather dull without Club Arnage, we're picking up the plan again to get an exclusive gadget for the Friday Party which will entitle to entrance and drinks.
We had serious doubts about throwing the party on Bleu Nord due to non-CA'ers and non-DfH'ers wandering around on the Friday evening having nothing to do and wanting to join in. As we will be on MB now, we can go ahead as originally planned. It might be a bit more of an exclusive party though, we probably have space only for a maximum of 250 people...
Details to follow after Sebring ;)
-
I had my ACO letter yesterday and it's Blue Nord for us too. Team Zarse are evicted from MB, and it's a bloody outrage! I've been on the list for years and now this! I even went and told the Commer who is, naturally enough, catatonic with fury and indignation at the humiliation of being relegated to the humble confines of Blue. Rest assured the relevant curses have been laid against the ACO.
Time does not permit me to enter into yet another anti-french tirade, needless to say, I would happily add paragraph after paragraph to Rusty's eloquence above.
Oh well, I suppose we are all just going to have to make the best of it, Blitz spirit and all that. Perhaps a little CA encampment in that concrete triangle on the aerial photo, might be fun?
-
Andy, You could paint The Gimp blue and call him the Blue Zarse Fly ;D
-
I should imagine that the sight of the Commer rising from her winter slumber was awesome. I wouldn't want to be in the ACO's shoes when she gets there in June.

Trust me to be out of the way  ill be keeping my eye out for the gimp and any CA flags, shirts etc to say hello :) ;D

Nice rant Bri ;D Not so sure i like the sound of The Liverblue Boys part though ???
My only real concern now that we know we're being punted to BN is security for the likes of friday night and race days when most of us go walk about and wont be anywhere near our tents???
Jimmy may have to bring the sledge hammer out of retirement ;D
-
The postie was very late today - 4 pm. However he had my letter from the ACO.
I usually get 10 camping and 6 entry tickets, way more than I ever need now. So as it's a big expense that I could do without at this time of year, I reduced it to 3 on this year's request and included it in the "Termie" heap. I did not put a second choice campsite.
So in today's post the ACO are offering me my usual - 10 camping and 6 entry - but in Blue Nord! They have quoted my regular booking number, and kindly have given me ACO prices, even though my membership lapsed last May or thereabouts.
To me, this seems like the ACO haven't yet reached the start of the pile.
Maybe I'll get another allocation...
-
I wonder just how small MB is going to be if they are bouncing "magic listers" off it?
At least it sounds like you haven't lost your magic list status Smokie - even if it's less useful if you're being given Bleu Nord!
-
I asked the ACO how they decided who would get MB tickets and who wouldn't:
"There will be works in Maison Blanche so we are losing a lot of places so we can’t afford them to all regular clients as you, especially when you need a lot of places. People who wanted 1 or 2 tickets, it was OK, the others not."
So there you go. I wonder if that includes corporate sales and agencies?
Yeah, the security side of BN worries me a little too, - you can break into my car so easily, and the deadlock on my tent's been playing up a bit. That's assuming I manage to get the car rolling, I was shocked to see I only managed 300 miles in it last year! No wonder it's got the hump.
H
-
I wonder if that includes corporate sales and agencies?
Well, Paddy got 11 MB tickets from an agency, and that gives us one big block of pitches. So apparently they had no problem supplying the agencies with more than one or two campingplaces.

How about one of these, more fun and I notice it is waterproof.

Just remember it's on when you sail back full of laughing juice.
-
I love that "starter kit".
Like once you get into electrocuting people you can buy more advanced equipment.
-
People may remember my posts last year relating to camp security.
I must find that website that sells the tripwire activated smoke grenades, thunder flashes and load your own splatter grenades.
Obviously there needs to be some sensible application of the above gadgets as we dont want to catch the over refreshed camper returning to his pitch with a nasty covering of something unpleasant... but I already have plans for tent zip triggered fun.
Nothing that will injure obviously! ;)
Watch this space!!
Oh, and finally... Bleu used to be ok when we used it and seemed the same when I took Lady PP on the BMX cruise round all the sites on her first LM in 06. Mind you.... most blokes are friendly when faced with the sight of a young lady on a BMX in a mini skirt and stripey knickers!! ;D
-
BN has not only a security problem.
From sunday till thursday it wil be an open space with less or non guests. No social control whatever and even hard to make it a little bit social or cosiness.
Having a nice evening in an open square of hundreds of meters wont be easy.
Even then, everyone passing on the road will see there is somthing going on with easy acses during the first 3 or 4 days / nights.

If I remember correctly, the Lotus 7 / Caterham club have had a 'closed' site within Bleu for many years, with entertainment, food etc etc.
They don't appear to have had problems.

You are right Steve, they have been doing this for a long time.
There are so many of them that there always seems to be someone about, which probably discourages any 'problems'.
-
They probably do not arive on sunday I suppose.
The "problem " that I ment was concerning the first days of the week.
When still a lott of guest have to arive, and a lot of space is still vacant.
.
-
I'm not 100% sure, but I think the Caterham group fence in their own area and provide security at the entrance. They actually have a bigger stage than DfH (how dare they), big screen TV, bar and food, and they take all the stuff over from the UK in a couple of HGVs.
Hell, they have even chartered their own ferry in the past!
-
.....Hell, they have even chartered their own ferry in the past!
They must have found one with a decent ramp!

Hope it wasn't the Herald of Fr.... :o

It was a seacat.
-
Camped next to the Locusts/Caterhams in 2006 on Blue Sud.
They have all the aforementioned and provide their own.....24hour....security.
Take up way too much space mind.
But if they've paid for it then the problem, again, rest with the ACO for giving it them.
-
Very late to this thread as been on hols, but congrats Paddy for your determination to get onto MB ... Still waiting for my letter and hoping for the usual KN tickets (especially as it's still not numbered pitches this year) .....
-
Well blow me down, stap me, shiver me timbers and call me Bob.....
Our group's organiser got his confirmation today - over the years having migrated from Houx to HA over a 6 year period, then to KN for the next 6 years, and then BN last year because we were getting a bit fed up of KN, we asked for the first time for MB for this year.
And we got it ;D ;D ;D.
So that's where we'll be. And loads of you are now on BN.... There really appears to be no rhyme nor reason to it...... Now aside from our usual small group, I am on the lookout for a single extra MB ticket for a good looking young lass who rides a Ducati 996 and wishes to break her LM virginity this year - I know they're seem to be like RHS this year, but if anyone finds themselves with a single spare for MB, please drop me a PM.

Steady on there old chap, she's a serving officer too you know. Got to maintain standards you know. :police: And a flea-bitten straw palliasse chucked down in the back of your artic will simply not cut the mustard. But she is the genuine article - a good-looking, bike-riding motorsport enthusiast with legendary Stella and red wine capacity. I'm more than willing to take her, but I don't have MB tickets.
We start digging the tunnel from Blu Nord in May, its an old British habit you know.

Mark, don't know her arrival day - but if she gets there for Monday lunchtime, we can park the bike in the back of my truck and 'smuggle' the bike in. Once it's in, she can go out again on the truck's card :)

Paddy,
Many thanks - that may well be the way to work it out, as I know she will want to experience the joys of riding it around Le mans rather than just parking it up for the week. I'll be in touch if if we can't acquire one.

-
Now that the camping tickets are 'hangers' on the rear view mirror, there is nothing to stop you meeting the Duke rider outside and loaning the camping ticket to get her in.
If she wanted to cruise around, as long as you didn't want to use the car, the ticket could again be loaned.
But, of course, because we are British, we wouldn't dream of doing that, would we? ;)
-
Now that the camping tickets are 'hangers' on the rear view mirror,
Exactly, and the truck has no rear view mirror! ;D
The Guys with Ties have been asking for camping tickets before at our place, but that has always been for cars, never asked for the truck's ticket. So there you tackle the problem with the scanning system.
No probs Mark, will be glad to help.
-
They were only checking that cars on MB had tickets on them till about Thursday, then they seemed to lose intrest, along with things like security.
Andy was not asked to produce his camping ticket when the bike was parked up on MB, they only checked cars.
-

hmm............... does anyone have an idea of how those barcode scanners they use work?
1) do they just scan the barcode and give a "genuine ticket" beep
or 2) are they clever and say this number was scanned in and not out "refuse entry"
I'm pretty sure its not number 2 due to the need to link to a central server for all handhelds units etc people leaving at the main gate with one guy enter with another, people not being scanned at all on exit.
but as you say Barry "because we are British, we wouldn't dream of doing that, would we"
i haven't really thought about it :P
Edited: last year motorbikes/ goped sometimes bikes all asked to produce camping ticket or leave it outside. Once the guys know you (e.g guy with 'tache he sometimes would wave you through) - that prob dismisses no 2 above
-
I am led to believe that it is a 'scan out, scan in system'.
We have a lot more complicated system running in our shop, all using wireless tech. Wireless range would be a problem at LM, however the info that I had was only related to the campsite tickets not the EG ones.
-
yes that was inforce last year on MB
Edit
However if the bike went in with the truck, and after that the truck never moved def no probs ;D eg motorhome with scooter on back
-
I didn't have any problems with a large monkey bike in 2006, which I brought down in the car (sorry Piglet).
I think even the brain dead on the gates of Bleu Nord realised I couldn't have ridden down from Blightey on it. :)
-
In 2005 and 2006 the whole place was open for goped fun ( see pic left) however in 2007 securite would not them through the gates.
On one occasion having ridden on the track from porshe curves to tetre rouge, then having had a good pit walk (tues pm) we exited through the back of the pits towards KN. 10m through the gates we decided we didn't want to ride them on open road and turned round.
The guy who saw us (4 people) ride through said passes please!! >:(
we ended up riding out past the camping areas on the road and back to MB main gate to show our camping passes to be let back in.
People in other posts have said last year bicycles were not allowed in some areas.
The philosophy overall seems to be changing e.g more numbered pitches after last years zoning/ free space.
but i'll still be there, wouldn't miss it :)
-
One advantage of MB you are already past the entrance gate, so your bikes are already in. :)
-

It's OK, we've got the Stinger device ready for this year ;D
We've got four camping spaces and only two vehicles so there will be one of ours spare for vehicle use if that helps (not that I'd want to get in the way of Paddy's "back of the truck" activities" ;D
-
Indeed you are, the mistake i made was leave :(
This year bumped to BN as others have so different issue.
Was it worth taking the "monkey"? i've been looking at them and i'm there all week.
I imagine its good for the supermarket, trip to arnage etc

Yes and no.
We had a proper big bike down for trips to the supermarket and Arnage ( thanks to Andy )
However if you are a lazy git like me, it was great buzzing around the sites visiting people.
Proper bike is best ;D
Overall i'd say no unless everyone in your group has one, formation cruising.
Piglet loves them ;)

Piglet loves them ;)
I've just not understood the need to do constant laps of the campsite for hours on end when you could be drinking! ;D
The funny one last year was 14 year old Jordan saying loudly and very straight "ooh look at that fat man on the funny little bike" as one chap came round for his 7th lap!
Funnily enough he didn't come back for an 8th lap :D
and Paddy....yes, I think you might be stuck with your truck comment! ;D

Totally agree Piglet, but very useful for getting from A to B quickly.

On Expo last year, we had motorised scooter racing! Noisy, unwanted and frigging dangerous.
However, there were two highlights;
1. oil placed on a corner!
2. midget racing! he had trouble looking over the handlebar. Met him in the loo koo and quite a nice chappie.
Looking for the pics to post.

Any road up (proper Brummie that is) I do have a certain amount of unclaimed tent this year, at last!
;)

OK, I've got my allocation too, sooooo wait for it, my choices were: 1) MB 2)BN and 3) I think KN
so go on what do you think I got (given that our requests went in before the booking date opened).....have a guess.....
BSJ >:(
I've given up giving them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they shifted us all of MB so we could all be together...
So if anyone wants any highly sought after BSJ tickets please let me know otherwise I'll reject them... ::)
-
That suck piglet, maybe you can get some BN from ferrari spyder?

I've got MB from Powermite so subject to it being a bit of a squish (have camper van coming this year) we'll be fine thank God!
-
Piglet, was your application part of the batch handed in by Deb?

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Your in the "chosen ones' campsite as well. ;D
-

Yup - I wonder if they have been very "anti groups", I asked for 10 passes so maybe that goes over their line in the sand (or mud perhaps) that leads to BSJ ::)
-
Mine was one of Debs too.
MB, then houx, then HA, then KN I believe.
BSJ tickets anyone? ::) I see speedchills have one on ebay for more than I spent on drink at Christmas. :o
I'll keep the grandstand tickets though. I think...
Thank you Termie for trying. You did your best.

We will just have to wait for the postman for the next couple of days I guess.
The suspense is killing me ;)
It will be intresting to see where we are allocated, we only asked for 2 passes, so if there is a line in the sand a suspect we might squeak in, but my guess is that the after the agencies and the 'Chosen Ones' had been accomodated there is very little/none left :(
-
Not sure about any lines in sand or even mud. I have options on 10 Bleu tickets. And that wasn't the form which went in with Termies. That was just an unsolicited repeat order. Good old ACO...
-
Starting to get worried now. Just had the following response from the ACO when I emailed to see if there was any news on my order:
"We will record your order in the coming days. You will receive your letter of reservation at the latest within 2 weeks."
Faxed my order on the 6th June, surely that wasn't too late. :(

Who knows....there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the allocations this year. What did you ask for?
-

I got an answer via email from the ACO 3rd of January (where I was told we'd be on Bleu Nord). Still no envelope here with an invoice in it. Even though we will have tickets for MB via another channel, I think it's rather strange we still haven't received an invoice. I hope not to dissapoint Chris24 and Lisa :-\
-
I am waiting patiently as I only asked for 6 tickets. I now that is still possibly considered as a group but who know's it is the ACO.
Absolutly Crap Organisers!
-
The timing is a bit weird, I normally get my allocation after you guys, I'm normally one of the last so I'm surprised I've got mine already.
Separate point - I have some Lagache Tribune 19 tickets on my allocation - probably 4 or 5 spare. I'll post them on sale/swap in a while. I'll only accept them if someone wants them (and pays ;D)
-
well at last the blessed ACO letter arrived this morning, and yes 4 pristine BN allocations in lieu of the MB zone D tickets I had asked for.
If there is a CA'er out there desperate for BN let me know and they could be yours.

Russ is away at the mo so we still dont know where we are yet....Our application was one of the ones handed in by termie so .... Fingers crossed!!
I am sure that we will have a right royal tear up where ever we end up... but BSJ is a bit of a march from the track when its scorching hot and one is bladdered ;D
-
Oh dear, it all seems to be going a bit pear shaped this year, and am seriously considering giving the whole damn thing a miss. Pretty well all of our group have now cried off, and I'm left with a whole load of ticket allocations, what's a man to do?
It'll be a shame to break the run of 21 consecutive years, but the ACO seem to be gradually stripping away all the bits worth going for, and I have to admit arguing in the dark with a Frenchman over whose numbered camping pitch is whose doesn't hold a lot of attraction.
Hmmm, bollocks!

H, my dear chap, the answer accords with the Nike principle - Just do it. You know that you'll enjoy going. And if your traditional bunch of chums are not going, you know plenty of people out there. Don't break the consecutive run - anyway, you owe it to the Jag to get her down there this year after leaving her sadly languishing in the garage in favour of your fund-raising velocipede venture last year!

Just 2 camping passes for MB. Hopefully that small enough to slip through the net, but I suspect we'll get bumped to somewhere like BSJ or BN
-
I called Just Tickets today just to see what they had left on the camping front.... The nice Lady told me that they still had had passes for all sites except MB and Bleu/Bleu Nord.
She also said that they had the full allocation thay always ask for.... and would open a waiting list for sites if required.

A man of your standing on both sides of the channel should be carried to Lemans shoulder high and given a position on the starting gantry.
After years of worrying about tickets etc etc we staying about 25 miles off camp last year and had a great time. The road to and from the circuit was epic and even though we thought we wouldnt be seeing too much of the race,we actually saw more.In past years it was all too easy to slope back to the warmth of the motorhome and watch on Eurosport.
Last year once we were at the track,we stayed for much longer, but in the evenings leading up to the race,we managed to get out and see more.
One night we drove out for a meal and I saw a sign to Lemans which was further than Lemans was to Caen
While 9 pm a the Shampoo is an event never to be missed,we were getting into the same old routine each year to be truthful it was getting a bit tedious.
Im sure H,even if you came over on your own, your CA buddies would still make sure you have a great time

Well the confirmation arrived today, so we will be on BN (2nd choice).
However if anyone has a spare MB I'd like to be on the waiting list . We'd be very quiet, always asleep by 22:30 and never up before 9am , and I've never been known to set fire to anything that wasn't mine.
-
Well that's our message arrived today saying, with lots of apologies, that despite the earlier allocation, it has been changed and we're now not on MB but back on BN, which is where we were last year. C'est la vie, so I'm afraid, Paddy, that the lorry won't be brought into play and you'll have to live with meeting Alex on the Friday night, or earlier if I pop by to say hi before then....

Minor detail about the bike, too bad you didn't get MB tickets either :-\
Makes me wonder how many people they actually have planned for BN, it almost seems like everybody gets dumped onto that site :-X
