Title: Le Mans Tram
Post by: Ferrari Spider on January 12, 2008, 03:05:40 pm
...getting a few questions about the tram system that operates between Houx Annexe and Le Mans itself, would seem that we need a separate thread.

Debs, being the onthespot expert, can you tell us the In's and out of using the tram.  Tickets, can you pay when boarding, is it a flat fee system, do you need an 'oyster' type card, where can you buy tickets from, is it the usual Tabac deal?

Timetable would be handy, especially for Monday/Tuesday and the Friday, any special services being provided, like the bus service from outside the main circuit entrance to town.

That'll do for now, hope you can us all out.  Peter ::)

The "timetable" Peter, is in this link
http://www.ville-lemans.fr/page.do?t=2&uuid=4FCFD0ED-D4D0B214-49621248-7F0DC323
From 05.00 to 01.30 daily, every 4.5 minutes at peak times.

The price of a tram ticket  is the same as the bus, 1,25 € single, 3,60 per day 9,50 for ten trips.  Tickets are sold from automatic machines at stops, on board the "bus" and at Setram agencies.  The trams number 23 in total, and run between 05.00 and 01.30, with intervals of 4.5 mins in peak times.

Another edit, forgot this:

Les automobilistes disposeront à terme de trois parkings relais, situés à chaque terminus : Antarès, Université et Espal. Il en coûte 3,60 € par véhicule, ticket de transport compris, quel que soit le nombre de passagers (cinq au maximum). Gardiennés et sécurisés, ces parkings une capacité initiale de 800 places.

Drivers can use 3 car parks, one at each terminus: Antares (HA to thee and me), Universite and Espal.  It costs 3,60€ per vehicle, travel ticket included, no matter how many passengers (up to a maximum of 5).  Secure parking with an initial capacity of 800 places.

I bet you're asking yourself the same thing as me: How the fl*ck are they going to police that during the race? Ha! Moto GP'ers and 24 hour-ers might check that out....

And you took that pic of Mr T when exactly?

Hang on, how big are these trams?  We took 3000 people to the Excel Centre, and thats the best part of an hours worth of the Docklands Light Railway.  I'm not sure they'll cope with the Carrefour customers, and there's no chance for the drunken bums going to the drivers parade.

Did Ken Livingstone have anything to do with it?

Will there be Goped racks - is there a restaurant car - will there be a wagon for the cases of Kronenbourg coming back from Carrefour - will we be inundated with train spotters?

You wanna go shopping by tram?  :o Have fun dragging all those cases of beer and other stuff back then! We will have a shopping trolley again, only thing I'm sure of is that I'm not the shopper this year...  Will provide the trolley by the looks of it!  :P

So no special buses from the circuit to town now.
The alternative to the tram still seems to be the bus to Oasis.

Be careful if you walk back from Arnage village then.
I know of one broken ankle, and one broken clavicle in the last 4 years.

I'm in training for Le Mans, and my spelling is not brill at the best of times.
When over refreshed it gets worse.
Was talking to Mr Courvoisier when I posted.
Will try harder but couldn't focus on the dictionary ;D

Shame they didn't extend the line to Mulsanne, any plans for that in the future?

It's in the guide, so you'll just have to wait another hour or two for the answer!
