Red Ken (the Mayor of London!) is planning to build a new bridge across the Thames from Beckton to Woolwich.
If this gets built, then the old Woolwich ferries will be on the second hand market for a knock down price.  If we're able to organise CA camping, maybe we can pitch in and start CA channel crossings  :D

One year (1995) i flew in a light aircraft to Le Mans. Fine getting there on Friday morning, but the return was hideous.
We flew back Sunday 90minutes after the finish, and i was home before the beer had worn off.
Still had the sound of the cars echoing through my head and i'm sitting at home.
Never again.

I flew there one year too.  Bad weather forced me to stop in Beauvais
on the Tuesday night so I didn't get to LM untill mid PM.  Had great fun on the thursday flying my pals around the track.  It looks so different from the air.  Didn't leave untill the Monday AM to give myself pleantly of time  bottle to trottle.  Landing Fees And Parking fees were hideously expensive.  Limited luggage so won't do that agian unless someone else is paying the bill.

My uncle flies down to join us in a 6 seater Aztec. Between 6, the fuel and landing fees are not too bad, and we help by carrying most of their kit down for them in the trailers (van next year)

Ok I first decided not to join you and post on ferries as fas as I'm not concerned, but I eventually change my mind.

One friend of mine was invited to a party in London starting from paris. he took the eurostar in Paris, a special train rented by the organiser of the London Party with some facilities inside (even a bar and an disco-coach!!!).

It maybe not so expensive to rent a direct train from London to le Mans.

One of our group came down on Friday for the race this year.
He picked up the Eurostar in Ashford.  Changed in Paris and took the TGV to Le Mans - 130 miles on about 50 minutes?
He left Kent after midday and was in Le Mans for the parade.
I'll ask him how much it cost.

Dick initially asked for a single (knowing he was coming back in my car) on Eurostar - Ashford to Paris (£159).  Then the sales person said if he has a dated return ticket booked for specific train times the offer price came down to £89 - return.
The TGV from Paris to Le Mans was £29 single (or approx twice that for a return).

So single trip £118.
Return trip £147.

He brought all his camping gear and a change of clothes in a big bag.

Hope this is of some help.
