Title: Urgent, calculating import duties from US to UK
Post by: Snoring Rhino on October 15, 2008, 09:43:39 pm
Does any body know what the import duty rate is for bringing in items from the US? the items will be secondhand data terminals - so electronics, computer related, they are whole units and will have a total value of around $40,000.

Ian

Last time I imported something (a shotgun), I phoned the Customs & Excise and they told me what the duty would be.

Can't say what the duty is on electronic goods - appears there is a different duty for different articles, so give them a ring.

Del

But Del was importing a shotgun, they probably didn't want to upset him.

Is worth "shopping" around for the relevent import code number for the goods. Mains powered stuff charges a higher rate than less than 60v.
