I'm meeting my northern pal Byron up west in London lunchtime-ish on friday 14th November.
No firm plans just yet, but it probably will involve an ocean of ale and a trip to our very own gentlemen's club - The India Club - on the Strand for a lovely curry (home of the Curry Club of Great Britain).
Interest has been expressed from various quarters, including Russ and the Brethren, so if anyone cares to join us let me know and I'll cut you in on the deal.

Is that the gay looking one who you "went to see a concert with" a few years ago after the Christmas meet?

B*gger. Diary already full with stuff that can't be moved that day. Have a good one guys.

Good work, I should be there about 15.00.
Russ let us know when you can confirm this, but it looks like the venue is going to be the Lamb and Flag in Covent Garden.

Trying to be in London for a meeting to ensure early arrival. Worst case scenario is I'll be stuck in the office near Oxford 'til 5.30 in which case I won't be up to London until about 7.30/8.00pm but I will be there!
-

And by which time we'll be heading back home... :(
Do try to get there early, it would be a shame to miss you mate.

I wasn't expecting you to get to "our club" until later.
I'll see what I can do!

Just seen this thread. Count me in for a drink, but pending on time of "the club" got to get train at about 11 - midnight I think last train out of town Ruby murray debatable.
So my eta at Lamb and Flag about 6.30ish, I look forward to seeing you all.

As late as that? I thought Cookham locked its gates at 10pm ;D.

Monsieur Zarse asked me to post details for all of those who have not had the pleasure of the 'Lamb and Flag'.
33, Rose Street, Covent Garden, London WC2E 9EB. Rose Street is a small cobbled lane linking Garrick Street ans Floral Street. There is also a small alley way linking through from Long Acre to Floral Street if coming down from Covent Garden tube. See attached map if you're still confused.
Closest tubes/train stations are Charing Cross, Covent Garden and Leicester Square. Can't advise on buses as I don't know how they work.
Rendezvous time is from 15.00
See y'all there.

15:00? :o
Does that mean when I get there at 5:30 I will be met by a bunch of gibbering wrecks? ;D
?
-
I dont think it would matter; it just means that you have to catch up quickly....
-
I'll be out from 1 with Spotty Hunter so I be as sober as a judge :D
-
I'm up in town tomorrow with Mrs Nobby. I wonder how it would be recieved by her if we wandered into this little boozer for a mid afternoon sharpener, low and behold............look who's here!

Hi Rex,
I too can not make it ;D
I am sitting at home sucking back on a local brew... Devils Pale Ale
666 Kilograms of Malt
6.66 Kilograms Hops
6% Alcohol
Quite pleasant it is too. As little dark for a Pale Ale in my opion but as you already know I will drink anything ;D

11.00am reading about it, makes me thirsty already - Love the can design as well.
Looks like a Porter rather than a pale ale, looks nice and dark for the winter in the cold north.
Any snow yet Phil?
-
It was a terrible terrible night but a great turnout and a curry in the India Club. Got home, via the local, far too late and with far too much to drink inside us.
Really great to see everyone, so thanks guys!
-
As Bob said, "we don't do this enough!"
Good food and drink with good friends!! :)

Mr Brown, a eunuch, do you have experience of such people? No doubt sailing the seven seas, swobbing decks, splicing mainbraces and getting a firm bite of the bitter end ;D
of what? :o
-
A great evening with great company.
I find that an evening out with fellow CAers is an educating experience and that I learn something new each time.
This time I learned .... Drinking pints of Cava makes your head hurt the next day.
-
But on the bright side, your pants escaped unburied this time?

That possibility was discussed though :-X

You know I spent all my time down in the bilges looking for the blue dolphin. No rope work for me. ;)

-
Oh look....this must be the thread that mark was eluding to on the phone (p#ssed) that I didn't see....
OOPS :)
Glad you all had fun - next time I will be a little more observant in order to avoid abusive phone calls, and cr4p excuses from Paul Zarse not to join us in Southampton for the following evening.
-

That's because you were pi$$ed. ;D

How dare you suggest that I, Andrew J Zarse, might have been drunk. I have never been so insulted in my life. It's an outrage.

I can understand your outrage Andy. Paralytic is usually a much more accurate description. ;)

Sorry. All those pints of Magners and Cava must have addled my brain and I must have you confused with someone else. You were, as always, the epitome of sobriety.

Enough of all this rubbish... drunkeness, excuses and a nite in Southampton?
Pictures.... Now!! >:D
Cava? Benders?
