I've just been called into the office to have a speeding ticket chucked at me for my van. After a quick 'sorry boss' and 'it wont happen again boss' i went back to the van for a read of it. Now,my van is a 8 year old Merc Sprinter with 92000 miles on it and full of materials for work,so she aint light or fast. I was clocked at..... Wait for it..... 138mph!?! By a mobile gatso. The bloody van barely makes 80 down a hill. I feel a dispute with plod coming on.

Sure that you haven't had your plate 'cloned'?
-
You'd best contact Nick Freeman, because otherwise this charge is bound to stick!
-
Apparently if the make the charge stick its a court date for me but i've just been told that it will be thrown away as theres been more than a few people contesting the speeds they were caught at. Ian,i think 138 might even be pushing it for the astra, never mind a big tin can van.

His office is just next to mine, pop in for a cuppa when you come in for your overpriced consultation!

Did the operator not notice that there was a problem? They should be sacked! What if it had been wrong by a much smaller amount, quids in for the "safety campaign" and countless motorists unfairly penalised. You should shame them by notifying your local paper.

I think it was March a few days a go, but it can't be April 1 already. 138 mph is a ban, and that means a court hearing not a ticket. :'(
Some revenue collector has noticed the speed and still sent the ticket out in the hope that you're stupid enough to pay. :o
So how do you get 138 out of a Sprinter - was it going down Beachy Head ;D
-
I've had a phone call to tell me to ignore the ticket. Its a definate fault with the machine. Apparently every car that day was clocked at around the same speed. The guy i spoke to said it was an oversight that i even got a ticket because they were all meant to be written off. Still, its been a good story for the gym.

I would want more than a guy on the phone saying it's a mistake. I want written confirmation.

Try
'Can't you make it 140, I'm trying to sell it'
Perhaps not, not known for their humour really.

Paid the 'station' a quick visit this morning, written confirmation in the post along with a sorry for any distress caused letter.

I told you if you put a 6.3 V12 in a scabby sprinter, you would get away with a speeder. >:D
-
138 in a sprinter you are having a laugh, the astra will with easy believe me :P

The Vecky is sniggering on the driveway... I hope there were no cameras on the A34 on the way to view the Popemobile... 25 past the hour is all I will say ;)

Kev. I hope you are not referring to driving at speeds in excess of 140 MPH on public roads. ;)
