Don't worry Doris, he's coming to Le mans next year, even if I have to attache his bits to the frogeye and drag him there. >:D

Can you let me know if you do this?  I want to make sure I'm there to see his arrival ;)

I've booked a house with a pool nearby for the Thursday and Friday nights. Going to enjoy a more civilised trip next year!

Yikes - you getting all sophisticated in your old age Si?!

I have a deposit down on the ferry to go back to TT again next year so LM is looking unlikely - or maybe just a short visit.

Doris

It was certainly interesting.... turned out to be not at all what I had expected!

The campsite was completely silent by midnight - with security patrolling and putting a stop to any noise or naughty behaviour!  (and I had been told I was on the "party site" and not to expect to get any sleep for a fortnight)!!  It was like a vicarage tea party compared to LM!!

I am booked for a shorter visit next year - just practice week and first 2 days racing.  The full fortnight was too long for me really - though it was a bit different this year as they had carried over races every day during race week which wasnt ideal as there werent any completely free open road days to go and do the touristy bit!

I marshalled for practice week and one of the carry over race days which was fun - in an "eeek why I am standing here with just an orange vest for protection" kind of way!

IoM a great place though - I am back again in a couple of weeks for the Southern 100 - it uses a shorter road circuit not over the mountain road and group starts.  That is more my kind of road racing than the single starter "time trial" style of the TT itself.

Its a shame that the TT/LM dates are so close together really.

Yep the TT/LM dates have totally wrecked my plans for next year.  :(

LM I'm afraid, couldn't miss it. I really though both would happen next year.  :'( This years would have been perfect date wise.

TT is later next year - even closer to LM - unless LM is later too!

Hey Fran,

Sounds great like you had a great time. Where were you marshalling? Really enjoyed the ITV 3 coverage each night, there was a short piece on the Marshall dinner that the organisers hosted and also interviews with a few of the orange army. Some very dedicated long standing marshals, probably  LM has some long standing marshals.

I marshalled at Joeys, Union Mills, Appledene and Handleys Corner - all great spots and other than Union Mills all pretty much spectator free!

:-)

Have you thought about going to the Manx (or whatever they call it now) - its on the mountain course and I have heard some really good things about it - I thinks its around August time.

You sound like an expert there Fran. As for the Manx, I'll have to have a word with my mate and see what his plans are. Decisions decisions.

Oh Doris, how could I even consider missing the Brethren Costume Ball twice in a row  ;)

Its bad enough I missed y'all this year, I've promised myself no more than one 'miss' in any five years. Preferably none, I've not been in favour here for moping all week...

I'm part way through my planned reasons for missing this year so there's to be no more excuses.

I do need a clue from Russ so's I can plan my cossie though.  :)

Fran,

Did you see Mark Higgins peddle his Subaru round the course? Quicker lap time than the sidecars now!

Impressive car control.

I saw it zipping by a few times and preparing to set of for a flyer from the Creg one day.  It gets a bit of a run up before the timing starts (ie already doing 150+ mph!) rather than a standing start from Glencrutchery Rd like the bikes/sidecars!  Sidecars definitely more exciting to watch though... you can see the whites of their eyes!

Its all a bit controversial with the TT diehards though - 2 wheels good - 4 wheels bad!

I dont think they will ever forgive racing being delayed when it ploughed into a bridge one year.

83rd Le Mans 24 Hours  will be 13th-14th June 2015. These dates sent in by the ACO were validated today at the FIA World Council meeting in Munich (Germany).

As this year, the 2015 Le Mans 24-Hours will be held during the 24th week of the year.

It’s the seventh time in 92 years that the Le Mans 24 Hours will be run on 13-14 June. The last time was in 2009 and prior to that the years were: 1931, 1953, 1970, 1981, 1987 and 2009.

Test day will take place on Sunday 31st May 2015, two weeks before the race.

Scrutineering and administrative checks will be on Sunday and Monday 6th and 7th June 2015, very probably on Place de la République in the centre of Le Mans.

Thanks for confirming that GF

Now do I start looking for bookings (ferries etc) or wait 'til the possible 'change de plan' later

;)

I doubt any of the Ferry operators will be on sale that far ahead just yet, probably have to wait till September for that, the ticket agencies have been taking bookings for the last couple of weeks though I understand.  God only knows when the ACO will put tickets on sale! Plus many hotels are already booked up, or are keeping those dates blocked off.

Still, the excitement starts mounting already  ;D

In the last few years, ACO ticket sales have started in the first week of November for members only, then open to all two weeks later.

But... don't expect all grandstands and campsites to be available, even on the first day the booking office opens to members. The ACO will already have reserved many places for official ticket agents/resellers.

God only knows when the ACO will put tickets on sale!

ACO replied to my enquiry with a "please come back in September" maggot. I've decided to simply check every day, sod 'em.

Don't think tunnel bookings are available until next month so guess I'll have to be patient.

However have started thinking about the location for an overnight stay on Sunday night on the way home.  Paris looking favourable to suit our drinking companions from Luxembourg.

May also have a restaurant in mind, wonder if they'll take a booking yet?  ;D
