Title: Peage Tag
Post by: cja on April 29, 2015, 12:20:46 pm
Have re-done my peage tag - nice new slim design, over the old 'brick' - and if anyone else is still looking to get one, I have a link for a discount, without you needing to travel via any one particular provider.

PM me for details.

Is your discount better than this?

That's who I use, however I believe that if you recommend someone who applies, you and possibly them get a discount/extra credit.
Quite fun last year driving through the toll at 30kph. And it saves all the hassle of undoing 3 point harness (in my case) and running round the car to collect the ticket, finding somewhere to keep it till the next toll and then trying to find it, along with the change. Does cost a bit to set up and run, but worth it for me.

We got one last year, most excellent bit of kit.

How much do they cost to buy/ Set up? If your not on Eurotunnel it seems to be €39.50 including a €20 refundable deposit on the tag + a month activation fee of €6+ the standard toll charges. So ideal if you go to Europe regularly or like Gary, travel on your own in a small car.

How about this Martini.
From a Sprint I did at north Weald last Sunday:
A time comparison
Aston Martin DB7 i6 Volante 3200S cc best time 87.98
Austin Healey Sprite 1330 cc Best time 89.01
Just 1.03 seconds behind  ;D

If you have a look at the FAQ's on the Sanef site......... https://www.saneftolling.co.uk/subscription?ref=RF-20150410-8602E30 (https://www.saneftolling.co.uk/subscription?ref=RF-20150410-8602E30)  .......you might just note that the bloke who put them together actually has a sense of humour.....

#6.2 is the one......  ;D

I had a Frogeye and loved it, fifteen years later I tried to get in a friends, which had a full size steering wheel, and could not fit in! ooops

My sprite would only do 70 but it seemed like it would do it anywhere  ;D Not bad for an Island with a 35mph speed limited.

Paying an extra 25 Euros to save getting out the car and walking round the car to pay the toll ! Err no thanks, think I'll get out the car and walk round to pay the toll if needed.

Which is the reason why I've paid the €25 so that I don't have to queue behind the guys getting out of their cars and walking round to pay  ;D

Plus we are making 6 trips to France this year so it more than make sense for us.

Can understand not wanting to pay an extra €25 euro on a single trip, but if you use it two or more times, it's well worth it.

I regularly travelled solo, through France, to Spain & Portugal and the joy of not having to get in & out of the car was immense, as was the 'smug' factor!  ;D

One word of warning, if you are carrying a roof load the sensors sometimes read you as a category 2 not category 1.
You can get it refunded but check the bill when it arrives and claim refund asap.
I have found the company to be very helpful.

Decided to get one this year as there was a special offer being promoted by Eurotunnel.

Gadget arrived last night - very quick service from Harrogate, that well-known French City!

Looking forward to trying it out in 4 weeks time.

I shall wave as I sail through the Liber-T lanes  ;D

The Eurotunnel offer seems to be almost permanent, we got ours with it at the beginning of 2014.

That's a Eurotunnel-only deal, I think.

There is also a similar discount available to anyone not using Eurotunnel - if you are one of those, just PM me.

bump of a old thread.

With the rush to get to France and being on my own my friend gave me his tag to use and I am giving him the funds once he is invoiced for the use as he got it from the eurotunnel deal after he went to euro disney.

I have to say what a fantastic bit of kit!!!!

I am looking to get one for next years trip to Lemans and as ill be over a few times due to legal activities it may work out worth while.

I did spot alot of toll booths are now unmanned and all going to card use rather than coin / notes :(

Anyone have any discount links come next year let me know ;)

I'd be interested in any offer links too. I'm a member of the CSMA and I know they had a good offer on these this year, its not on their website any longer but if it returns in time for June I'll post on here so any other CSMA members on here can see about it.

I got a discount code from Eurotunnel when I booked this year's crossing.

As you say they are brilliant to use and when we drove out from LM to Paris on Sunday I reckon I saved a good chunk of time at each péage.

Just a reminder that the operators suggest that after four years you stop at one of the péage offices and have it replaced for free so the battery doesn't let you down.

I now have one ready for when I go in a few weeks! Looking at where to place it as I have rain sensors I have to place it on the big plastic section of the wing mirror but at least its all done!

Let me know how you get on Kev. I'm unlikely to have a 'Pete' for Le Mans, so a Peage tag will be the easiest way for me to go (did it take long to arrange/get delivered?). Plus I'm heading back to France for the family summer holiday as well as a planned trip to Somme area later in the year too. For the last two I'll have a 'Lisa' model of the 'Pete', but if I have a tag it'll mean the 'Lisa' will be able to concentrate on keeping an eye on the 'Kids'.  ;D

I got mine last year,  did it all online, and it arrived in no time.  It was perfect for the 6 trips into France we did last year.
No fiddling for cards or change at the booths, or queuing behind "billy no mates" Brits!  And def no arguing with the wife cos she puts the card or ticket in the wrong way round  ::)

Worth the slight extra cost I would say.

With a sat nav to replace the JoJo, and a t-libre tag, Jo can snooze all the way down to the Med.
And I can play what music I want!
Result ;D

I literally rang these - https://www.saneftolling.co.uk/

Based in England in Harrogate!

Rang them, explained it idiot proof I then went back to the website and created a account it arrived in a day or 2. Expensive to start with IMO as first 2 trips cost 5euro per trip for the tag then your tolls on top.

from memory it was 11 Euro to create a account / set it up and 20 Euro deposit for the tag. Once you return the tag you get that back. The first payment went out of my account on DD today for £31.63 (it converts the euros to ££ by the way)

I used my friends in September when my dad passed away as he had it still and I was in a rush, So So So easy, roll up to the barrier you get a beep, it opens and carry on. Once home end of the month you get a statement and the funds are taken. If I was doing 1 trip i wouldnt of bothered due to the cost but as I am off in April, June & maybe July and September its worth it

Hope you have a lovely time. The test day is a week later.

Péages; I've had one for 13 years now, and it costs not a penny if you aren't using it. They charge you 2€ admin fee for the month you do use it, and I use it often - most months in fact. It is not a question of the cost but the facility of use; Instead of hanging around waiting for people to put their card in and pay you just drive up in the outside lane, stop, wait for the beep and the barrier to raise and off you go. Worth every penny, or centime as may be.

Yes we did thanks.  That post was from last year!

And we are off to the test weekend this year again, although we aren't bothering to return home for a few days this time, just staying on till race week.

I'm not sure if this mightn't be a permanent offer but the peage tags are on offer with Eurotunnel again. You have to be booked with them though.
