Title: Is nothing sacred anymore?
Post by: jimclark on January 30, 2021, 06:09:30 am
In all my years I never, ever, even entertained the notion that there'd be a grid sheet for a sportscar race that didn't have qualifying times........Saturday night short tracks with their heat races, yeah........

For shame, for shame......... :(

There's one for the qualifying race.

Qualifying race made up the grid positions, could be the reason why there's no qualifying times for the 24 hours?

Yes. That's my point. It was from "The ROAR Before The Twenty Four" weekend.

That would be equivalent to using times and a qualifying race on Le Mans test day for the 24.....

Sacrilege I say!!!  >:D

Ah, I feel your pain  ;D.

New qualifying format at LM isn't much better with that hyperpole stuff they introduced last year.
Should just let everyone set a time over 2 sessions like they used to do, much more entertaining.

Yes....same with F1....and all other series. Times have changed to please sponsors by drawing the uninitiated, casual watcher's eyeballs to their rolling "billboards"..... :(

Dollars (or whatever currency) talk; all the rest walk....:(

On a positive note, I can say I caught the real stuff...... :)

It was usually said that grid position isn't important in a 24 hour race, although having the fast cars at the front must be safer.  These fancy qualifying sessions are just to provide some acceptable footage for television IMHO

Try telling that to Ken Miles (rip).....I think he'd disagree........

Another reason not to attend ~ the build up and the atmosphere...
