I thought this run was cancelled - we booked it last year then they called us to say it was cancelled and transferred us to Caen with no extra cost (our usual run)...I'm referring to Brittany Ferries - are you going P&O?

I'm going Portsmouth-Cherbourg too!
I guess it's P&O, as long as it doesn't sink it'll be marvellous. It's supposed to be the fast one, so I reckon that means it's pointier at the front end than the others.
I'm on the Tuesday afternoon crossing though, I'll leave a present for you in the Gents, it should be easy enough to find.
H
PS If anyone needs any further tips on naval architecture, just let me know.

A couple of the guys in my group may end up having to change their crossing and are considering Poole-Cherbourg as an alternative... Does anybody have any idea of distance and/or travel time from Cherbourg to Le Mans...

Dark Warriour, did this trip for the PQ's, there are two possible routes, using the national roads or "back roads"  I took the back road route and without pushing on too much did it in a very comfortable four and bit hours.  The roads were quiet and good driving through some very pretty countryside.

The national route is about an hour shorter but has the disadvantage of mixing it with the 40 tonne lorries and of course everyone else heading to Le Mans is using it with all the associated attractions that brings.

Happy to send detailed directions with map sections if you would like. 8)

Its a bit of a run then... If they go this route they'll be lucky to land in Le Mans before late afternoon...

Many thanks for  the offer of directions... anything would be very greatly appreciated...

Rick, they havent a fast craft, but they are using the Bretagne and ??? to operate the route 4 days a week, 3 sailings every 2 days or something simular.

It hasnt proved that popular as yet.
