Title: Le Mans Classic - who is going?
Post by: Piglet on April 14, 2006, 10:45:49 am
The ACO have confirmed that the camptsite (MB only) will be open from noon on the Wednesday before the race weekend.

So as the title says, who is going, when are you getting there - any volunteers to set up the CA enclave? ;D

I expect to be there, but final plans depend on other people. I shan't be paying that rate to camp on Maison Blanche!

Myself and 19 other East Anglians will be travelling down in 10 cars on the Thursday 07:00 Speedferries, anticipated arrival in MB - late afternoon Thursday, staying until Monday.

As noted elsewhere, there is expected to be another 70 or so cars from the national Cobra Replica Club arriving Wednesday / Thursday.

Brick and I will be there.  Probably travelling down Thurs night and leaving Monday but no fixed plans as yet.  Mostly because I fully expect to be taking my seat in the Olympiastadion to watch England win the World Cup on the Sunday night.   ;D

Doris, as much as I would like to see it I think you have got more chance of winning a "Look at my beautiful long hair, just like Barbie" competition.

Indeed Del.  I believe optimists call it 'living in hope' while pessimists would just say I'm dellusional.

Hope they've got their bolt cutters - the campsite won't be open until Wednesday?

Just had a look at the new booking form.
Karting Nord is the only camping site being offered, so presume MB is sold out.
Confirms grandstands all gone but they are considering temporary structures.
Looks like a big crowd this year, if the locals surpport the event.

Barry, I think there will be a lot of Brits there too.
The Triumph Sports Six Club have exclusive use of Tertre Rouge camping, there's a lot of the Cobra Replica Club on MB.

Will the ACO restrict access to the pits and paddocks?

Don't know about the pits, but I think we will be lucky to have the same access as last time.
Paddock passes ordered when I ordered tickets months ago, still available if you book in advance, they are repeating the jacket and tie rule for gentleman though.
I don't own a suitable jacket, hate ties and I don't know if the ACO would regard me as a gentleman ;)

Does anybody know the sartorial rules for wearing jacket, tie and shorts. ; :o

In a previous life, when I was in the merchant navy, our tropical uniform was white shorts, white short sleeved shirt with epaulettes, no tie, white socks (not a pith hat though!)

Do you think they'll let me in?

Bit of a problem Steve, they have allocated me Karting Nord

Title: Re: Le Mans Classic - who is going?

This whole camping thing needs reviewing IMO> It's Eu70 to camp and now they tell us it's Karting Nord, which is a bloddy long hike and totally unecessary. MB in 2004 was ok but I'm very temped to do what I did at the 2002 Classic; erect a tent for free in Parking Bleu. There was literally acres of space. I'm only likely to be there for the fri and sat nights and Eu70 is ridiculous.

Andy , Bob

If you want to to camp in MB, I can pick you up and drive you and your gear in.
As long as the aco are not measuring pitchs, and you can find parking, it should not be no problem.
