Did you take them?

It does not look like Brands or Silverstone etc, (and its not Le Mans!). If it taken in the UK I would guess it could be Aintree.

You can see the BRP/UDT teams pale green cars (Lotus 18?) by the reg parnell transporter.

As for the year I would guess its 1961.

If it helps any more?

Love the crash barriers around the track -     ahh pre H&S days

That looks more like Brands now.

Are they from the same meeting?

Could be 64, Clark is in the No 1 Lotus having won the 63 championship. the Brit GP was held at brands that year.

But that seems to go against the pale green cars in the first picture.

Pic 3 - The last one,

All I know I found these in a box, they were slides  - by the looks of it all from the same time.

I think the guy who took them was in the auto trade is all I know.

Any more would be great as I have them put away for years

Ahh - join the army as well.  - so who's going to tell me what rocket is being towed?

Rick is right, it is Brands, as for the year I would stick with 64, but you could post them on the Atlas fourm, I am sure you will get the meeting, date. lap times and what colour pants the drivers where wearing within a few secs!

If your not registered on there I can do it for you.

Great photos, do you have any more?

Cool, where did you find these pics? I never knew Reg Parnell had an Austin FG transporter. Wicked!

The Bloodhound being paraded around Brands, I am delighted to say, is being towed by a Commer! The Bloodhound in BobU's picture is located at RAF Cosford and there's a cheeky little BAC1-11 and the Belfast poking their noses in too.

OK - here is the last pic I can find, talk about being close to the action.  And still no major safety barriers.

Love the quality grandstand as well -ahhh the good ol days. If it is 63/64 then i was 2 !  Drinking a diffrent bottle then.

OK - what are the cars?

Pics 1-3 are taken from the Paddock Hill grandstand at the British GP Saturday July 11th 1964. This was the first ever GP to be held at Brands, and it also held the title European Grand Prix.
Pic 1 is a view from the rear of the stand into the paddock - you can see the British Racing Partnership BRP-BRMs of Innes Ireland and Trevor Taylor painted in the distictive BRP pale green beyond and to the left of the Reg Parnell transporter.
Pic 2 shows the cars on the first lap with Jim Clark (Lotus-Climax) in the lead, followed by Dan Gurney (Brabham-Climax), Graham Hill (BRM) and John Surtees (Ferrari).
Pic 3 is of A spectacular display by Military Forces of Eastern Command, including a mock attack on defended positions - that's what the programme said.
I was there, the racing was fun and as I remember the mock attack was a pathetic affair with thunderflashes and flares, just like school corps used to be on Salisbury Plain.

Dug out the slides this weekend and they are dated Jul 64.

So who guess this date was correct.

Even more good news, there are more slides that I need to scan in.

So watch this space......

Sorry chaps, negative on the Bloodhound its a Thunderbird, A missile that is very similar in appearance, the Thunderbird, was produced for and operated by the British Army anti-aircraft artillery units to provide a more mobile defence system.

Just look at the fins size and shape between the photos.

The only thing I think I am right on is that car 43 is a Lotus Elite and that car 39 has some strange roof extension, no doubt in the hope to improve aero efficiency.

The lead two cars are possibly early Lotus Mk7 or something similar.
