Title: Getting in the mood and ready for Le Mans
Post by: nopanic - neil on April 27, 2009, 03:53:32 pm
Found a great way to get into the mood for the trip to Le Mans.

Have changed the voice on my GPS to a sexy french lady, don't understand a word she says, but she sounds nice.

When I have it set for dirrections it sounds like she is calling me a twat at times, but it could be "de droite", but not to sure.  ;)

At least when I get to France and I want to find a bar, I'll know if it is on the left or right - I hope.

Has anybody got other ideas to get in the mood and getting ready ?

Dont wash for several days and stagger about in the garden drinking beer with a car noise cd playing. ;D

Drank my own body weight in Bass, watched Jason Bottom win, BBQ pm, talked utter bowlox deep into the night ;D ;D

Just like being en La Sarthe - apart from the beer brand & Mr Bottom winning ::)

Pefect training for the main event 8)

Counted 18 empty Kronenbourg tins in my recycling box this morning from over the weekend. All my own work!
Going to the pub tonight to help build up the beer muscles.

And so on and so forth!!!

I practice by drinking warm fake french lager from tesco ,cheap red wine and vodka martinis without the vermouth or ice!
Sometimes I even use seperate glasses.

Not being able to get warm fake French beer as cheaply as Carlsberg, I have settled for drinking copious numbers of cans of the said substitute nightly, even allowing one or two per night to get periously close to room temperature...

It's a $h!t job but it has to be done

I persevere!

I had a weekend off the booze to lull my liver and kidneys into a false sense of security.  Practice for LM starts tomorrow with a noshing and sloshing day in London all epxenses paid.  Then it's full on practice every weekend until the off.   ;D

Worst practice method is to argue with the wifey.

Tent in garden.

Quieter at work this week so this afternoon I'm going to refit the rear seats and bulkhead into the Vito and finish the wiring for the freezer. Got the podcast of last years race on at full volume in the background and just found a box full of last year's left over fireworks. Getting that tingling feeling in the stomach now  ;D

Just looking to break the news to Mrs S sometime over the next few weeks that I'm going. I've been informed a while back that i'd be going 'over my dead body' ::). Better get the patio dug up then in preparation ;)

Been getting in the mood by pounding around La Sarthe on GT4 and watching McQueen's epic.  I might just be talked into driving a 3 hour kart race next weekend, too.

Other than that, I hate to say it, but apart from getting my stuff packed up, all I have left to do is wait.

Oh and I got my head burnt. Wife went out to an ailing friend at 4.30 so I laid on the settee until 8.30... sweet, only interruption was having to get up for vodka  ;D

I have the old PS2 version of Test Drive Le Mans as well as the even older Dreamcast version, the only real difference being that the PS2 version had more recent cars availabe.  It was a good game, especially since it did go through changing weather and realistic dusk and dawn.  The only problems I had with it were that if you set the weather to variable, it didn't tell you what the weather was at the start, and it was a bit too easy.  You shouldn't be able to win overall in a Corvette.

Now I just use Gran Turismo since the track is more up to date.

We're getting in the mood for it even though we're not going!  The weather here in Dorset is beautiful.  We had my Dad (and his twin brother's) 75th birthday party in the garden yesterday and the weather was superb, we've got loads of beer left over though, clearly our friends and family here don't drink beer in the same quantities as the rest of you - we definitely over bought!

We're watching BSB, WTCC & our new F2 championship with the patio doors open so making the most of the motorsport and the sunshine and getting in practice for LM.   Hopefully we'll keep this weather for LM weekend and we'll do the same thing - with the addition of a tent to sleep in!

I'm even wearing my DfH Keep Drinking T-shirt!   ;D

Watching the Gallic world go past.
Definatley in the mood now. ;D

This week, of all weeks is the longest of the year, waiting until the first person comes on here to post that they've left home. The bastard really drags.

Next week however is the shortest week. Blink and it's gone.

"Zooosh"
"What was that?"
"That was Le Mans"
"Oh, that was quick. Can I have another go?"
"Nope. Not til next year"

eyelashes permed and tinted

glad you have the priorities sorted Weena

tents? lilos? huh who needs 'em there's always someone with spare spaces...

I looked at the tent this afternoon

it's still hanging by the garage wall where it has been since last year
might look at it tomorrow

if getting the old fat bod prenatured for slight sunwarmth doesnt take over

again

still maybe it wouldn't hurt to kick out the bodies of old French Ants so our aggressive Brummie ones can have a roast ant party in the long grass

 ;D

Pools are a thing of the past, ban permanent I believe, to assist space management, I suspect.
After all are you going to buy an extra pitch for a large pool?

...re pools - also the French water restrictions on pools, which I don't believe have changed. Termie will probably know.

To be honest, several of us probably would buy the extra space for a pool, especially if we have a hot one (and we are due one!!)  ;D

It's more a case of if we can afford to fill it with Evian??!!  :o :o

One way it to drink a lot (http://www.sebringfans.com/forums/Smileys/SFBigSet/drinker.gif), find that works.

Let's see, if you can have an inflatable bed..... then throw water on it. You would have an inflatable pool! Can you fall asleep in a pool? Yes. Then you just tell them this is my bed and I have too sleep out in the open. ;)

Let us all know how you het on with this theory.  I presume your 'bed' will be mega-king size/Ikea Orgy size.
