As i wrote the list I thought that there'd be something else that was essential. I might go to Macro for that and get a wholesale pack or something...

re breakdown cover I found direct line were virtually half the price of anyone else, i suspect you get what you pay for, but the cover looked ok. Travel insurance is cheap at www.travelinsuranceweb.com if youre under 50.

am meeting my co-driver tonight for final meeting, very excited (about LM, not meeting my mate), little FM radios arrived today from Maplin (only ordered yesterday). Just need a trip to boots for rennie/painkillers etc and then get my euros and i'm done. I'm currently excited like a 5 y/o at christmas, and CA is only serving to wind me up more - Good work!

i (bearing in mind my LM virginity) thought that the light system was only for the ALMS, rather than actually at LM? I do think it's a decent way of doing things though.

Ordered tiny FM radios today for radio LM, which completes my pre travel preparation (other than foreign beer vouchers).

Sat and sun now forecast as sunny, with the week before the race being very nice.
Hope it stays like this, although i begin to suspect that Accuweather puts out a random selection of weather types regardless of any actual forcasting...

So You Think You Know About Le Mans / Perry McCarthy

does anyone happen to know what Perry McCarthy is doing at the moment?  I cant find any LM references to him after 2003, when he didnt even get to drive the Audi.

if your under 50 you can get travel insurance for 6 days for 2 people for £15.50 at www.travelinsuranceweb.com - just for info, spend the savings on beer!

clkgtrlm1, youre correct, your old E111 isnt valid anymore - everyone going to Europe this year needs a new version.
Also your travel insurance firm will normally insist that you have a valid E111.

very quick and easy - the only thing is that you need to know your NHS number to complete the form. You can get this by ringing your doctors office, if you dont have it to hand...

General Discussion / couple of questions from a noob...
« on: June 02, 2005, 11:21:36 am »
Starting to get v excited now  - I leave for LM on the 15th, so will be there for qualifying on wed night. Have got break down cover on the second car (first choice has jacked in this week, so no trip to LM there), which led to a conversation with Direct Line re breakdown cover that went along the following lines:

Me : I’d like to cancel my breakdown cover please.

Direct line: why?

Me : my car has broken down….

Other than that, tent is sorted, tickets have arrived, have new E111, got dirt cheap travel insurance (www.travelinsuranceweb.com) need to dig out a little radio (thanks for the advice!) and get some euros  and then I’m done. Virtually sitting packed and ready to go. Cant wait.
I have a couple of questions that I’m sure you’ll be able to help me with:

What’s the campsite nearest the Porsche Curves called?

And,

What times/days are the public roads closed prior to the race starting?

TIA.

Graham.
