2017-18-19 / One Blue Nord camp ticket for sale
June 13, 2018, 01:57:35 AM
One of our crew has dropped out so we have one spare pitch.

Face value is £90 but open to offers at this late stage.

The downside is you will have to camp next to us but I will let you have a burnt sausage.

2014 / Re: CA veteran looking for BN ticket
May 27, 2014, 09:53:07 AM
Hi all, shortly after I posted that request my son got told he couldn't go & I got called off to Germany for work and I've not had a chance to reply. Got back to Blighty on Sunday. Now I'm off to somewhere in America next week so It looks like I'm going to have to sit this year out  :-[ work gets in the way too often. Elanman thanks v much for the offer but its just not gonna be possible now.
I'll just have to have a Billynomates bbq and watch on TV  :-\
Have a few cold ones for me chaps.

I'll be there, hopefully the world cup football will keep the crowds down a little in 2014.

Was it just me or were the crowds a lot heavier this year? It seemed so crammed out in the village and pretty much all around the immediate parts of the track.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that Bill. How did you get back? Limp or tow?
Should have given me a call if you needed a tow - I was in the town tractor.

We've just got a bridge camera. I bought it for the mrs for use pretty much as you describe. It won't do what an SLR will but is a simple step up from a pocket camera. It will also be a good basis for her (and me) to learn to play with the manual settings.

The things that were important to us were to have a reasonable zoom lens along with fast burst mode for high speed capture shots of cars and our animals. I asked a photographer friend who recommended the Fujifilm S range. We went for the 16MP S8200 at £220 from Tesco Direct. Apparently, all the Fuji S range have a fast burst mode (as long as you have fast memory too) at up to 12fps in HD. Add to this, the 40X zoom and the S8200 model was just what we were after. So far it's been great and we got some great action shots at LM even just using the autofocus option. Using the manual settings will come in time as we get used to it. It can even use std AA batteries too which is a bonus if the batteries go flat at a bad time.

Just an idea - hope this helps.

So, to sum up what that article actually states as fact...

Out of the many thousands of British motorists that headed for LeMans in high powered cars, despite suspicions and the many speed traps, only seven drivers were caught speeding in excess of 120mph.

How many speeding fines issued to Brits in total that week?
How many Brits crossed the channel that week?

I'd bet the number of Brits caught speeding is less than 0.001% yet it's made out as if all Brits are speeding hooligans!

On my journey home I stuck to the limits and only one or two Brit cars crept past me - quite a few French & German plated cars whistled past.

We take a lot of Euros to the economy of LeMans.

Assuming I can find a ticket or two I'll be there with my son. Maybe even in a Midget type thing.

Arriving Friday afternoon - sis-in-law getting married on Thursday pfffft.

On the boat back Monday eve.

All I need is some help deciding whether the girls are coming with us...?
