General Discussion / Did I miss anything?
« on: May 23, 2019, 04:47:04 pm »
Hi everyone. It’s been a while. Hope you are all well.
So, what’s new? I’m finally making a return this year, camping on BN.
Heard various rumours over the years about restrictions on entry to the circuit etc such as not being allowed to take your own beer in with you. Is that just glass bottles or does it include cans as well. What about soft drinks? Can you take them in? What happens with people camping inside the circuit, ie Houx or MB.
Looking forward to catching up with some of the finest people I know!  :)
Cheers
Mark

As we haven't been able to find a replacement babysitter yet, can we bring the 10 year old?
He has been to Le Mans already, so is advanced for his age.  ;D

If Mr Brown is going then you have a babysitter too as long as you bring the books along!

Doubt I'll make it at all. If I do it will only be for the Sunday due to my Beer Festival on the Friday and Saturday nights.

On that note, is anyone swinging by Basingstoke on the Friday night before heading to Sillystone?

Hey Phil, good shots, is that the flying Lanc based in Canada.
I was hoping to do the same at an RAF Odium family day last week with BMF. Unfortunatly they were not able to attend for some undisclosed reason.

RAF Odium? Is that anywhere near RAF Odiham??

If so, why the hell didn't you call in?? :-(

A great loss to a Great British Institution, let alone the Pilot's family and friends.

General Discussion / Re: OT: Ebay & Paypal fees - ouch
« on: May 15, 2011, 08:50:54 pm »
I'd never really thought much about Ebay fees, since most of the stuff I've sold on there has been relatively low value.
I've just shifted all the unsold tickets I had left, and here's an example of the transaction:

2x GA and 1x camping (BN) ticket - face value €179, so ~£150 or so depending on exchange rate.
Sold on EBay for £160 + P&P - reasonably happy with that.

Buyer pays £165.75 immediately via PayPal, who snaffle almost £6, then Ebay feels reduce the amount further, so by the time I've paid the postage, I've cleared £15 less than break even on the cost of the tickets. >:(

And they say there are people who make a living out of buying & selling on Ebay? Not any more, I should imagine...

Hopefully the ones you got just over £206 for helped soften the blow?

The Gateway is our local when we go to London Irish matches, and was the pub we went to in Reading for Doris' leaving do (not that I remember anything about that part of the evening!!!!  :-\)  Martin (The Landlord) is a great guy and would make sure we are looked after well!

Sounds like a few hours on Eurosport 2 is all that's going to be available on the TV this year. Bloody typical when I've actually been there for 5 of the last 6 years!  >:( :'(
