General Discussion / Re: 1000 km Spa Francorchamps next Sunday
« on: May 08, 2009, 01:49:33 pm »
Well, I just came out of nose surgery for a deviated septum yesterday and am supposed to be on bed-rest for a week. But I have problems following doctor's orders, so I'm definitely driving up from Stuttgart this weekend. Don't know if I'll go up Saturday, since I didn't book any lodging. I suppose I could always crash in my car! And I like the idea of having a few drinks when I get there. This will be my first time, but I definitely want to see the AMs and Peugeots prior to Le Mans.

I'm sure Audi thought about it, but they couldn't deny the pit stop time advantage they had with an open top in the past (compared to the closed top Peugeots), so stuck with the same formula.

Are you able to sell a ticket at the track?
I'm in Stuttgart, so I don't think mail is a good idea at this point.
Thanks.

I'm interested in the campsite ticket if you've still got it. And I arrive Friday, so if you want, we can meet up at the track (I'll have my blackberry on me). Thanks.

How could I forget the Panoz LMP?!
I saw/heard that thing at Laguna Seca around 2002 (and on the San Jose streets a few days prior to the ALMS race), and it was easily the loudest thing I've ever heard.
Oh, but what a mean sound!

Come on, leave poor Henri alone.
He's like Papa Smurf on Motors TV!
Well, maybe a grumpy Papa Smurf... :)

Good point! However, the Corvettes more than make up for it. I went to the 12 hrs of Sebring a few years back to see the Bentleys, and I can honestly say that I should have wore my earplugs more. Oh well, if I go deaf, it means I don't have to listen to the missus when I get back... ;D

I might be in a similar situation: I'm driving my second beater car, a 1992 BMW 520. I'm hoping it's got one last good run left in her! She's carrying 4 people for this 8 hr trip, and valuable drinks in the trunk... :o

I think the last time I ruminated, it was in the bathroom, and my girlfriend caught me. Pretty embarrassing for all, let me tell ya. :)
I can't sleep either, so I keep trying to read up on anything Le Mans related stuff, it's my first time going this year.

Just saying hi!
My first time going. I'm driving from Stuttgart, and will be accompanied by 3 good friends from the States.
I've been waiting to go to Le Mans all my life, now 37 years later, I'm finally doing it. :D
Can't wait to go deaf from the sounds of heaven for 24 hours. Rooting for Peugeot and Aston Martin, although every car out there is a winner...
