...well, aren't you special!  I was at the start/finish line at the first 3-hour Daytona Continental when Dan Gurney bumped the starter to move his car across the line to win...so there... 8)

Quite impressive indeed!
Are you in any of the pictures that show the Gurney car as it sits just in front of the start/finish line? I couldn't make it to that race since I wasn't born till 1963.

To bring it back on topic, it was a thrill for me to see Paul Newman and others drive Ferrari Daytona's, 512BB's,333sp's around the banking and It would be great to see, (though looking very unlikely)  a true factory derived prototype turning laps at Daytona & Sebring.

By the way what was it like to see to the full blown factory battles between Ferrari and Porsche?  I have read stories and talked to my brother who attended the races and it sounds like an amazing time.

Ahhh..the CSLs, hooked up in a draft (errrr...slipstream...) chasin' the Greenwood 'Vette, with a gaggle of Porsches and Comaros lagging behind....  ;) ;) ;) (see my signature below...)

btw, PM'd you...

I Remember it well.
I went to every 24 Hours of Daytona from 1975- 93, along with the Paul Revere 250 and Daytona Finale. Not to mention Sebring, Miami,(the real street circuit),West Palm and Tampa.
I even have pictures and programs to prove it.  ;D

Lying in the sleeping bag at night and hearing the V12 and the turbo Porsche on the high bank at Daytona was almost orgasmic.  Please let me hear that again...please!

'Don't exackly know why, but it were the screamin' straight sixes of the CSLs that did it for me...  ;) :)

That's what did it for me too!!  :D :D
