General Discussion / Re: Le Mans 2017 Preparation
« on: January 19, 2017, 09:41:06 pm »
So I've already started preparations for 2017.

I've booked nearly 3 weeks off from the Thursday before the race till July off work, bought a solar panel to go on the car for power and few other odds and sods.

Granted i booked most of the time off to work on the mothers house in France but still be interesting as I think I maybe on my own (unless a mate joins me) Me & Mrs Mk3 (Kelly) are no longer together so she won't be attending.

Still no idea which car to bring to this year  ::)

Anyone else started?

Maybe we'll get that beer this year Kev! 30 of us booked onto Houx Annexe again, heading down to Portsmouth on the 13th and should be there for around lunch on the 14th, can't wait already.

I was very tempted with a BMW 320d or 520d but the timing chain worried me - is this now fixed on new ones?

I do like the urge of the bigger 325d and 330d, and any of these seem to be chipable, so even more grunt.  My motoring is very modest these days as I generally commute on the train but......

I NEED A DIESEL TO GET TO LE MANS AND BACK ON ONE TANK 'COS FRANCE HAS MEDIEVAL LABOUR LAWS.

PLEASE HELP.  :'( :'(

unless it gets solved I'm going to consider hiring a car.

I'd been weighing this up in my head, we've got the option of a 200 bhp diesel 47mpg Renaultsport Megane or a Mazda Rx8 231bhp at about 18-19mpg. Im swinging more towards the Rx8, mainly as petrol seems to be more available, diesel is like finding hens teeth but the looks of it.

Am I missing something on that link? All I see is "Counting all these artists, the warm-up acts and DJs who will complete Saturday night’s entertainment, some nine groups will appear on the stage beside the Dunlop Footbridge." Which sounds like the normal concert location to me.
