One other item about "Detectors" in the US: In jurisdictions where they are illegal, the "Authorities" also have a device called a "VG2". This is a detector that finds radar detectors.
On the subject of "Circles on the windscreen", you could of course be using a GPS (if you have one).

Interesting, quitting racing just to avoid the tax.
Not exactly avoiding the tax but loosing the deduction for the expenses.
B.C. was also the first to show up at a racetrack with his cars in a large enclosed trailer with car ramps and an integral machine shop. 
No new `teasers' for a while as I am preparing to go to Long Beach California where I will be a marshal at the OWRS (nee CART) race.
O.K., why didn't the Moretti entries compete?
They would have been classified as 10th & 11th overall as well as 1 & 2 in class. 
How many cars (1) qualified, (2) started, (3) finished?
Daytona was dropped from the World Championship for Sportscars from 1976 thru 1978 and the `Trophy' was revived again for the 1985 & 1986 seasons.
