One more question.  I'm sure that I will receive a letter if I am awarded tickets but will I receive a denial letter if I am NOT awarded tickets or will I simply receive nothing?

Help / Hey, where are my 2007 tickets??

I am a newbie to the process of acquiring tickets, camping passes, etc. for the 24 hour race.  I sent an email to the ACO months ago.  They responded and said that I  was on the list and that I would receive a letter in December letting me know whether I would be able to get tickets.  As of right now, I have not received a letter. 

Does anyone know if these letters have been mailed out?  I sent an email inquiry to the ACO but got no response.  If I do not get a letter, does that mean I am SOL for the 2007 race and camping?

Mr.Gator made the trip this year for the first time myself.I would suggest camping on Maison Blanc.There are plenty of CAmembers there that I sure could provide assistance.I do recommend renting a car for shopping runs,trip to the drivers parade etc.

My group stayed with Drinking For Holland and Team JP Chenet.Had the time of my life.I would suggest this trip as a MUST DO.

If I can be of any help feel to pm me.

Placed order for tickets and a Maison Blanc camping pass today.  Thanks for all the excellent advice from everyone.  The 72 page Not For Dummies guide is fantastic.  Much appreciated.

As for the camping a Maison Blanc, I assume it is a fairly large camping area.  Should I try to grab a site in any particular area of MB?  Do the CA'ers try to stay together?  Are some areas more or less rowdy than others?  I assume it is like Sebring where there are areas that party (loudly) 24 hours a day.  I'm too old to do that anymore.

Greetings all!

A buddy and I are planning on crossing the pond to attend the 2007 race.  I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with.  I'm not really even sure where to start preparing.  Been to Sebring and Petit le Mans many times but this is all new for me.

- Are the race dates available for 2007 yet?
-For someone traveling light to France (by air), does it make any sense to even attempt to camp or should I try to find a hotel?  If the hotel is the route to go, any suggestions as to where?  Particular hotel suggestions?
-Can I order tickets for 2007 now?  How, where? 
-Is it recommended to rent a car or should I try to take public transportation?

I would go for the campsite option, great atmosphere on all campsites. Just buy the cheapest tent, sleeping bag or blanket and air matress after your arrival in a shop in Le Mans, e.g. in Carrefour superstore, will cost you an estimate 150 USD complete. Just leave it there after the race or give it away to someone. Even if you add it together with the campsite fee this might still work out cheaper than several days of hotel accomodation and its much more fun. But, as Pretzel wrote, book your campsite ticket NOW! An email to ticket@lemans.org works usually fine.

Wow!  Thanks for the excellent advice from everyone. 

Couple of additional questions:
Are there different levels of campsite tickets or is it one size fits all?  Is there a preferred camping area?  Areas to avoid?  Is the camping ticket the same as the admission ticket or do you have to buy one of each?  Can you camp and also gain admission to the grandstands?  At the ALMS races here you can roam the track with a general admission ticket.

For the benefit of us Yanks, can you tranlate English words (bog, loo) into "American"?    

Sorry guys I know our slang is somewhat different to yours, but as smokie said, they're catch all words to include all toilet based areas.
At the end of the day it's the place we go to empty out used beer after a long day watching the race

British slang crack me up.  It's like it is almost English or something....

the facilites can be character building to say the least.

To be honest I thought they were ok, considering the number of people using them. No worse than any other circuit I visited, BTCC bogs at Donnington this year were a little unkept by the end of the day.

One woman looking after the toilets at Beausjour this year cleaned after every visit, leaving a clean loo before you got in

Admittedly I haven't visited a wet race yet, when I'm sure it's a lot worse!! It remains a very good cover story to tell those you don't want to join you!!

I can guarantee my luck will run out soon!!

Hi Gator,
I live up in Cincy and like you have been going to the Petit and Sebring since the late ninties.  I've been to Le Mans six times with some British friends who live both here and abroad.  As Phil said I would be heading there sooner rather than later, the airfare has become terribly expensive (enough to stop me from going for the past couple of years) and the dollar is taking a pretty good pasting against the Euro and Pound.  You'll enjoy Le Mans, very cosmopolitan and evocative atmosphere, some superb eating and drinking to be done.  I will warn you though, don't expect the same sort of spectating we get at Road Atlanta or Sebring (or my home circut Mid-Ohio).  The paying public are placed a hell of a long way from the action at Le Mans, usually having to look over a cement wall, paddock admission is not available without media or competitor creds and the facilites can be character building to say the least.

Come and find the Club Arnage area at Sebring in March then!

It's usually fairly obvious, with a large banner up high that says...Club Arnage.

Not far off the main road, behind one of the merchandise shops. You can see it from the stands... Next year there will be (at least) myself, gab, Canada Phil, Chris24, Pidge, Pidge's extended family and any number of other regulars... arriving Wed afternoon (when else? )

I'll be there with a buddy of mine.  We have already purchased our tix.  We are doing the Club Sebring for the second year ("free" drinks and A/C).   I'll be sure to look you guys up.   We'll arrive Thursday morning.

Well said Smokie. Insta-Gator the leap across the pond is getting more expensive every year so sooner is better. Look for flights out of Phily and Miami as they are often good deals. assume you have been to Petit and Sebring. It takes at least 5 days to watch Le Mans

I live in Atlanta.  Petite is just 45 minutes up the road from me.  Been there for the last 5 years.  This March will be my 5th Sebring.  Good stuff.

I'd love to attend both but it involves a hop across the pond for me and will be quite expensive.  As a matter of fact, I was thinking I might try to kill two birds w/one stone and tie in a visit to the Goodwood Festival of Speed on the same trip, if the dates work out.

A buddy and I are planning to make the pilgrimage to Le Mans for the 75th running.  I calculated that to be 2006 but then I read something the other day that made me think that it may be 2007.

Can someone tell me which is correct?
