We also haven't plenty of the buggers running around. Have to keep a eye out for them (along with Bambi) on the bike, they don't set any speed records crossing the road. Interesting new trend is deep frying them rather than baking. I've had some baked turkey that was about as digestable as my hiking boots. Deep fried is fantastic, but can be a bit dangerous. Folks originally used home made deep fryers constructed from beer kegs. They now sell proper equipment for doing this. Fax

Like Chop, planning on getting legless and watching bad NFL games (Miami and Detroit? There's a heart stopper ) Funniest Thanksgiving Day story I've heard came from a ex-pat I know. He and his wife were in China a few years ago visiting her relatives over the Thanksgiving holiday. Her father asked what the deal was with Thanksgiving and Richard replied it was this Yank holiday where everyone gets drunk, watches football, and eats a Turkey. Ying's father said "We don't have turkey's here" Richard and Ying go to visit some other relatives, return to Ying's parents a few days later on Thanksgiving where Ying's Dad produced a big Turkey for dinner. A puzzled Richard said "I thought you didn't have Turkey's?" Ying's father replied "We don't" Richard "Well where did you get that?" Ying's father "The Zoo!" Fax

I've mentioned this before, last time I was there you could still go out to the old abandoned Apollo launch pads. VERY haunting experience, they're just sitting out there quietly amidst the overgrown dune grass. The towers are long gone but the concrete pads and blast channels are all still there, with a small plaque at the pad Apollo 11 set off from. Fax

Chris you'll be easy to spot on TV, since there's usually about three hundred people who attend the race. I remember when they used to start the season at the "Disneyworld Motor Speedway" if you bought a ticket to the Tragic Kingdom that weekend you had free admission to the race, and they still couldn't get people to show up. Sorry Chris, but I'm with Chop when it comes to the IRL, probably the biggest waste of time on the motor racing planet. But look on the bright side, you'll be one of the first to see what kind of new helicopter Ashley bought for Dario this year. Fax

Same idiots that screwed the bike fans with their "Sorry, no individual day passes available, you have to buy a weekend pass or nothing at all" ticket rip-off for the US Superbike final. As for the ALMS-IRL weekend. Quite simple really, I'm going up for Fri & Sat. The Danica groupies can have the place Sunday and watch the rest of the IRL losers. Fax

Oldtimer, yeah, got out for a few hours until the rains came. Temperatures that are tolerable on a motorbike in the dry quickly become miserable when it gets damp. However this time of year one has to grab every opportunity you can to get a ride in, because once winter really sets in, there no riding until almost April. On the subject of the oil burners, I suppose if the new breed of sports-racers turn out to be something exciting to watch I'll probably change my tune pretty quickly. I freely admit that much of my opinion is coloured by my dislike of the R10. As I said before, despite all the bells, whistles, & technology involved, it left me cold as a stone when I saw it at Sebring. Fax

Thanks for clearing things up guys, I missed out on the fireworks so was a bit out in left field regarding what happened. Peter, come back! You know you can't stay away too long, I couldn't. Heck, I left because I was offended by myself Fax

Point well noted about full grids making for a competitive race. However I suspect we're going to see four ultra expensive Audi's and Peugeot's, and a bunch of grid filler. I suppose at the end of the day what makes me warm and fuzzy about racing is watching the competitors visually on the limit, laying it out there. Didn't see that with the R10 (and never did with the R8 for that matter). Probably why I find F1 such a crashing bore these days as well. As for Jochen and the Lotus, it may have been quiet, but you can be sure he was on the limit Fax

Oldtimer, I think it was 1978 when the Indycars visited Brands and Silverstone. As we've said before, everyone has their own opinion. I always thought the seventies and eighties Indycars were fantastic, I also know people who thought they were complete crap. I thought the Audi R10 was possibly the dullest, least charismatic racing car I have ever witnessed when I saw it at Sebring. Some think its lovely, cutting edge stuff. As I said, everyone has their own opinion. As for my glass half empty? As I peer into my coffee mug...Its three quarters full! Fine day ahead, its warm enough to get out on the Kawasaki for a few hours and carve up some of the hills above the Ohio River. Fagey (and the rest of the bike fans), can't wait to see the new 800 screamers! Fax

WHY! Would anyone ever consider bringing a animal to a motor racing event? Probably the worst idea possible. Lets see...Large crowd (most of which pissed to the eyeballs), fireworks, loud cars...What could possibly go wrong? At most North American venues there's a strict "No Critters" policy. At Mid-Ohio the "German Shepherd that ate the monkey" story is still brought up. Survey says?....Nah! Fax

The LM bit is good stuff, personally I think the arrival of the smokers will be the death of endurance racing. Sure, you'll find always find enough people interested in getting pissed on a few hundred acres of dirt, even if it was a race for shopping carts. But as far as the racing goes...Yawn! Wow! the thrill of watching cars quietly whistle past, with the evocative smell of deisel exhaust in the air...Makes me misty eyed standing next to Interstate 71. How long until the Moto GP season opener? Fax
