Don't worry Doris, he's coming to Le mans next year, even if I have to attache his bits to the frogeye and drag him there. Can you let me know if you do this? I want to make sure I'm there to see his arrival

12hrs Sebring, 12th Weekend of the year 24Hrs Le-Mans, 24th Weekend of the year.
Although, it was a week early last year.
They usually announce shortly after the race, so I'm sure they'll be along soon!

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Number 1 Audi crash

In a way I'm glad that the camera missed that crash. The aftermath was bad enough - the commentary on British Eurosport feared the worst.
Glad Duval is AOK - apparently Audi were going to change 70% of the components anyway, so the increase in workload wasn't as big as everyone might think - they should make Qually tomorrow pretty easily apparently.

Chaps,
The ACO have apparently confirmed that England Vs Italy will be shown on the big screen after the concerts.
May I suggest the presence of a Club arnage flag, on a pole, to indicate a meeting point, and that we have this as the annual (and latterly lost) meet up this year? Saves walking back to camp......

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Who Will Win?

It's too close to call IMO.
Audi have their strengths - efficiency, knowledge, some speed but not the outright pace, reliability.
Toyota have really grown into the series - their car is extremely fast, and so far reliable - but 6 hours is different to 24 - if it stays together, I think they'll win.
Porsche were blindingly quick on certain corners at Silverstone and Spa - but reliability has to be their potential issue. They're also not QUITE up to speed with the team side of pit stops etc - but I suspect this will be ironed out by the time we hit the big race.
Overall, I think any of the three manufacturers could win it - for me though, it's likely to be Toyota, Audi, Porsche based on previous races.
I love the fact that it's too close to call!

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: McLaren Honda LMP 1
|
on: May 29, 2014, 11:30:39 pm

Honda and McLaren will have been working together for the best part of three years by the time a McLaren F1 car with a Honda engine turns a wheel. The partnership will be well established by that point. I've also long believed that WEC offers a cunning workaround for a ban on testing in F1, now that the technologies are more closely aligned - there simply MUST be an opportunity to develop engine components and theories in a real racing environment, without restrictions, and arguably in a more demanding environment, which can then be applied to the F1 engines and cars - even if it's just real world testing instead of dynamo/wind tunnel, and even if the application of the learnings takes a year (until homologation is released). I can see this having legs for McLaren, but I can see it having more legs for Ferrari - especially if there's a budget cap introduced - afterall - they need somewhere to launder the money from the road car business
