31  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: CA Charity fund on: May 15, 2011, 11:36:11 pm

OK it was just a suggestion, however 4000 downloads at £2 each is quite a bit more than the £700 odd raised. But as it appears to be against current legislation there is no point in going any further unless there is a way around it.

Just an idea....

Maybe if every donation over say £2 was given a raffle ticket number for a prize draw, held after or during Le Mans more people would donate. (Ideally the draw live on RLM!)

Of course suitable prize(s) would have to be donated/brought out of the funds.

33  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Motor Sport Mag on: May 06, 2011, 09:50:51 pm

If anyone is interested this months issue has a feature on this years Le Mans race, the battle between Pug, Audi and Aston. It features interviews with the designers and the drivers and the pro's and con's of each design.

To be honest I do not buy this mag very often but I saw the flyleaf advert and spent my £5!

Quite worth the read in my opinion.

Last time this happened the result was we had the awesome Ferrari 312/512 cars, the GT40 and the 917.

Any ideas how we can stir things up a bit?

PS..Can Ford race a pick-up at Le Mans?

This may be of interest to anyone looking for something to do in Coventry

 http://www.transport-museum.com/modules/events/event.aspx?id=47

Looks like it runs until early May so there is plenty of time to plan a visit. Might even win free tickets

39  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Car Ferries on: August 24, 2010, 07:12:52 pm

It was announced yesterday that LD Lines will no longer be operating a cross channel service from Dover  from 5 September. Apparently it was not cost effective.

I am not sure how this affects the service Newhaven to Dieppe also operated by LD Lines. Hopefully this will continue.

It seems that due to the recent slump in "booze cruisers" the ferry operators are finding the going tough at the moment.

Have you ever wondered what the difference between Grandmothers and
Grandfathers is? Well here it is:

A friend, who worked away from home all week, always made a special effort
with his family on the weekends. Every Sunday morning he would take his
7-year old granddaughter out for a drive in the car for some bonding time --
just him and his granddaughter. One particular Sunday however, he had a bad
cold and really didn't feel like being up at all. Luckily, his wife came to
the rescue and said that she would take their granddaughter out.

When they returned, the little girl anxiously ran upstairs to see her
Grandfather.

'Well, did you enjoy your ride with grandma?'

'Oh yes, Granddad' the girl replied, 'and do you know what? We didn't see a
single arsehole, blind bastard, dip sh*t or ****** anywhere we went today!'

Police cordoned off Liverpool City Centre this morning when a suspicious object was discovered in a car.

It later turned out to be a valid tax disc.

Mr Goldschmidt goes to the Rabbi and says, "look, my little dog, my darling bubelah, he's 13 years old, good as gold, I vant to do something for him, how about holding a Bar Mitzvah for my dog ?"

The Rabbi looks at Goldschmidt in horror. "Goldschmidt, vot are you asking ? A Bar Mitzvah for a dog ? Nobody ever heard of such a thing...terrible, terrible, an insult to God...I vould be thrown out of the synagogue if it got around...No, no it's completely out of the question. Sorry, but no way can I hold a Bar Mitzvah for a dog".

Goldschmidt says, "well, dots a pity, because I was going to donate $10,000 to the synagogue...."

The Rabbi thinks a bit, then he smiles. "But Goldschmidt" he says, "so vhy didn't you tell me the dog is Jewish ?"

Two great white sharks, swimming in the ocean, spied survivors of a sunken ship.

"Follow me, son." the father shark said to the son shark and they swam to the mass of people.

"First we swim around them a few times with just the tip of our fins showing."

And they did.

"Well done, son! Now we swim around them a few times with all of our fins showing."

And they did.

"Now we eat everybody."

And they did.

When they were both gorged, the son asked, "Dad, why didn't we just eat them all at first? Why did we swim around and around them?"

His wise father replied, "Because they taste better without the poop inside!"

Got my niece an iPhone for her birthday the other week and recently got my other niece an iPod for hers .

I was dead chuffed when the family clubbed together and bought me an iPad for my birthday.

Got my girlfriend an iRon for her birthday.

It was around then the fight started...

From what I saw on the web, quite an interesting finish, the leading 79 BMW going off in the last few minutes leaving a Porsche 1-2 with the 79 BMW 3rd.

Mr Dumas following on from his Le Mans victory taking the chequered flag.

A quick Google reveals..

It seems this insane tableau is the brainchild of a man who was denied permission to install a pond in his garden by the local council. So, obviously, he went out and put a guy in the ready position on the roof of a foreign police car. Way to lash out friend!

The website is no longer active however it is an imitation of an LAPD squad car. Maybe the number 54 is a reference to the US tv series "car 54 where are you" or maybe to the Blues Brothers film with the pork pie hat, who knows. This was way back in 2000/2001!

The other car is a well known type of British Sports car, known as an MG often driven by young ladies and gents having been given the car for an 18th birthday by well off parents, or by hairdressers.

We are not in the area so far covered, estimated 2012. We can watch online though.

There is a plaque on one of the grandstands I believe. I also think there is a small garden
of rememberance somewhere around

Makes you wonder were they are going to make up the money?

Maybe a good idea to check the costs of spare parts and body panels.
