Looks like I lit the touch paper with this thread...

JP, your'e right, MRI charge for drinks and food. and the 'screens' for watching the action are just a few 24" TV's on stands dotted about the place.

So it seems the best hospitality is of the good old British variety... bring some beer and leave the rest to the guys who wish for nothing more than beer and good company in return... a fine example of the Brits ability to provide in a crisis... It's no wonder we fly the flags so high over the camp sites!

So is it better to get tickets direct from the ACO, or is 'Just Tickets' an acceptable alternative?

Excellent rant BigH!!!

Just think how much worse you'd felt if you'd had to treck all the way down to the corner shop to pick the Mag up!!!

I can feel your blood boiling at the thought of it!

The copy I purchased in early June came with two copies of the LM suppliment... It made the purchase a little easier in the value for money stakes... imagine my horror when I realised I'd already read the second copy just moment before! B*STARDS!!!

I hope for MRI's sake that you've never paid them for Hospitality!!

Damn... rumbled!

OK, so we left town at about 10 - 11 ish just as it became dangerous to cycle without lights...  Roll Eyes

Then proceeded to get lost... found what we thought was the main road that goes across the Stella Bar, but wasn't... ended up on a pitch black country road.. was helped by some brits in a big convertable caddie (or something like that - was too dark to really tell..) and made it back to camp (all with "Which f*cking way now!!??" still ringing in our ears...) at about 1ish... Still, we were just about ready for some more beer by then!

JP, the perfect hospitality... I just hope the floor doesn't get too sticky!  Grin

Kpy, I remember seeing comments before about MRI, but at the time, it was the only way to secure a camping pass (foolishly left it to mid February!) I now know why they had so many left!!!

In my defence, I'd say that with the threat of not getting a camping pass at all,  we opted for paying the extra just to make sure we'd all be there.. me lud!

Won't happen again, I am truly sorry for what I have done and will endeavour to rectify my behaviour in the future....

I'm sure I'll just get nominal community service from you guys for at least making sure my lot attended.  Roll Eyes

Last two years we were in a Van. One of us ownes it. 4 birth, two guys slept inside, one in the awning, and the other two in their own three person section of a 6 man tent. Very comfortable!

Main benifits are with the domestic activities and the of course storage of beer in the fridge. A geny is still a must have though. We hitched three mountain bikes on the back and two more inside for the journey and still loads of room inside for all the kit.

3 hours St. Malo to Le Mans if we hadn't stopped for a sh*t, Beer & porn. Same back if we hadn't had a puncture!

Also less likely to get theivin' gypsied.

Bikes aren't everyone's favorite mode of transport, but we were able to get into town in about half an hour.

Cheers JP,

We always pick up some one-handed cliterature for the journey, so can contribute to both...  Cool

I can recommend a very good lawyer if it's likely to get nasty.

All part of the service...

This will make you smile... (if you didn't pay for MRI hospitality that is!)

Don't remember if I mentioned it... probably because I was trying my hardest to put it out of my mind... but I seem to recall sitting in the MRI hospitality just ONE HOUR INTO THE RACE when... oh...oh dear.... THEY RAN OUR OF BEER!!!  Angry   Angry  Angry

Needless to say we didn't hang around, and only returned with about an hour of the race to go to find... oh...oh dear.... THEY RAN OUR OF BEER!!!  Angry  Angry  Angry

I've been finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that somebody in charge of the planning for hospitality at Le Mans would over look the amount of beer required to such an extent that it didn't even last until 6:00pm on Saturday.  Huh How dumb do you have to be???

If I see any posts inquiring about the quality and value for money of MRI hospitality, I'll be happy to relay my accurate and frank experience.

As this is not simply hear-say, and I can even quote what I was told by the bar staff..."Sorry, we have no beer left"... I'm hoping it won't get removed, and as an information resource for veterans or virgins alike, I think it's important to let people know the truth.

OK...that's off my chest... lesson learned...and duty to pass this lesson on completed.

Please use this thread to relay any other Hospitality success stories...

Steve,

We had a camper van which we parked up on arrival, hopped on our bikes, went to check out what 'Chappel' was like, came back and decided to stay! We then found a spot where we knew we would be blocked in by the following day and sat pretty for the rest of the trip.

You're right, there was a ton of space left. They could have sold another 40 - 50 tickets if they wanted to pack us in. There was a TVR with two two man tents near us which had enough space for about 8 more tents.

We were near the Loo block by the round-about so got showered in ash by the fireworks from the round-about and the ones from the Elise club... well worth the show though! May pack a few sparklers for next year!

Rickmeister...

I picked up a nasty skin rash which I'm happy to swap you for that grass... you can keep the flies though, you may be able to revive them by letting them feed on the rash... Grin

I think Dr Cliff works in our Office Services department... I'm sure I've seen a manual selector from a Jeep 5-speed tranmission superglued to a broken door handle in the gents on the first floor!

Most Excellent Dude...!  Grin Grin
330  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:campsites??? on: July 02, 2003, 06:05:34 pm

Is it common practice to get a camping pass for one of the sites and then just blag your way into a different one that you prefer?

We had a 'Chappel' pass, but couldn't find our way in, so after trying to explain this to a bowling ball shaped local at the gate to Houx Annex, he just waved us through.

We also noticed, as we cycled though other sites, that there's generally a blatant disregard for being in the correct one!

It takes some going to be so @nal about camping tickets before the event, and then to leave it up to the discretion of the jolly chappies at the site entrances as to where you can or cannot set up camp!

Does anyone else swap sites when they get there?
