1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:Camping at Arnage?? on: July 04, 2003, 11:45:55 am
HI Will, you access Arnage corner from the village of Arnage, however the local plod turn it into a one way system forcing you to go to Mulsanne village and then a long loop back to Arnage. you can also camp at Mulsanne parking area.
Canada Phil

Thanks, but you missunderstand me. I know my way around the surrounding area at the outfield, but when you stand on the banking at Arnage you can see a house through the trees on the inside of the track. There is also camping there - but it doesn't appear to have anything to do with the ACO, just the owners of the house. The poeple who camp there get to watch from the inside corner of Arnage and the outside of Indianapolis.

Has anyone ever camped in the woods at the infield at Arnage/Indianapolis? I'm presuming this is a private campsite organised by the owners of the house you can see through the trees.

Also, does anyone know - how do you get about from here? I know there's the road to it from the track, but how do you get to and from it when the race is on?

Cheers,
Will.
3  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Producer for "bad" parking on: June 17, 2003, 11:52:01 am
We got a producer asking us to bring ID and Car documents to the local (I think - but actually have no idea where it is/was) police station for parking at the side of the road near Arnage. We were meant to have done it by yesterday, but didn't.

There's no fine (at present!), but I'm hesitant to do anything about it and hope they think same.

Am I being naive thinking it'll go away? Huh

I certrainly wouldn't have expected sand!!

Have they been to the ACO offices to ask what is going on??

I doubt it. Anyway - I can't see them coming around and removing it for us!
He makes out it's coarse building sand too - not nice white beach type sand. Still - might not be bad to sleep on.

The first of my party has just arrived at Le Mans and gone to Camping Beausejour (where we have tickets) and found it covered in sand?!

Should this have been expected? We camped there a few years ago and it was grass and we were anticipating the same!
6  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re:Camping in the Car Parks on: May 23, 2003, 09:53:35 am
We've camped in the car park for the last 3 years. I agree, it's probably not ideal, but there's no probalem doing it. And for 16 Euros it's a bargain.
7  Club Arnage / 2007 and earlier / Re:£49 Dover to Calais Ferry Crossings on: May 19, 2003, 04:15:23 pm
I got my first choice of times. Leaving 8:15 on Thursday (in time to get there from North London and miss the morning traffic - getting to Rouen after their rush hour. Then returning at 12:30pm on the Monday, so leaving (quite) early morning, but allowing enough time for my brother to get back to the North West for early evening.

This is one of the best bits of Le Mans. I reckon I can have 4 nights there and a whole weekend of racing for less than the British Grand Prix.
8  Club Arnage / 2007 and earlier / £49 Dover to Calais Ferry Crossings on: May 18, 2003, 06:26:37 pm
I know cheap ferries have been mentioned before, but I thought this was too good not to say again.

Just booked with Seafrance on www.seafrance.com from Dover to Calais leaving 12th June (Thursday) quite early morning and returning 16th June (Monday) at lunchtime for £49 and you get a 15 euro fuel voucher!!

Bargain!
