1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Sebring '11: Who's in? on: January 08, 2011, 01:51:12 pm
Who here is going to Sebring this year?

I'm thinking of flying out on or around the 10th, returning 21st.

Woolly.

Booked: 11am out of Newhaven to Dieppe on the 5th, Returning 16.30 on the12th.

Escorting the Brethren Command Post but towing my caravan, so support will be limited! Should have our own blockade of Blue Nord by Sunday afternoon!

As will know by now, we made it back! In the end, it wasn't too bad. Lost keys were covered by the Ford roadside assistance but nobody could get a key cut on a Sunday. As we HAD the RV back on Monday morning, a tow was arranged, Ford covered the call-out charge and the first 35 miles so we ended up paying $130 for the remaining mileage (43 if I remember right). On the plus side it saved us about $50 in fuel and about $32 in mileage on the rental as we were paying $0.40/mile, which brings the cost of the tow down to $50. The rental company got a locksmith on the Monday morning and we paid him directly ($75, instead of the $125 the rental co wanted to charge!) as it wasn't a coded key. On the down side we had to pay $75 to get the tanks emptied, rather than $30 at Sebring if we'd done it ourself and about $65 for the prop-shaft to be re-installed (including new bolts, which had been damaged in removal). All in all it wasn't as bad as we feared.

Better late then never I always say! Count me in, would be a bit rude not to come after all the effort put in by PP to centre it around my birthday. I'll pass it on to all the G@y boys who miss LM due it clashing with a certain bicycle ride down Brighton. Well that's what they say they're doing, they always come back with sore arses.

I currently have a space in my car (Dodge Dakota pick-up, Don't worry, I WON'T be asking for a equal share of costs!), traveling down early Monday (9th), returning Monday evening (16th). I'm based in London and using Dover-Calais ferry.
