1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Tetre Rouge Bar ?? on: June 01, 2004, 12:05:40 am
Re: Tetre Rouge Bar.

Last year the staff told us it was going to be demolished to make way for a tram line.

Does anyone know if this has happened or is it still there?
2  Club Arnage / Help / Houx camping - ticket query on: May 31, 2004, 11:57:35 pm
Have stayed on Houx for past few years. Last year had a problem which we may have again this year. Will try to expain & hope someone can help.

Arrived on site last year and we were directed to an area on the outskirts of the site, only one major problem - NO POWER. The site staff pointed to our ticket and said this was correct. Further investigation we realised we had actually paid a reduced price which obviously meant we were not supposed to have power.
Negociations with site staff we managed to get moved with the help of more euros changing hands!

Looking at our tickets for this year it seems we may have the same problem. But may not be able to get moved again.

We have paid 68 euro per pitch at serie B rate.
Can anyone tell me if this is the standard price or a reduced rate? Have checked an old ticket for 2002 when we were on the main area of site and we paid more than that two years ago which makes me suspicious.

The dilema is do we go with mains powered fridges etc or have we now got to look at going prepared for the worse?
As we are catering for around 12 need to try to get it right (ish)!!

We are on Houx already and have a spare camping ticket.

Couldn't find the details on ACO site, any chance of a direct link.

It's looking OK. Considering it's supposed to be sold out it is very quiet compared to past years.Perhaps everyone else is coming over with you? Make sure you have race ticket with you as they won't let you in the site, not sure why. Pop in for a beer, you'll probably need one.

Hello Everyone.

Arrived on Houx Yesterday. A friend has brought a Inmarsat BGan satellite thingy and laptop which means I can be on the internet in the middle of a field.Good eh!
Got call from P&O Sunday to tell me our crossing from Porstmouth 0715 had been cancelled due to strike action in France. So changed to overnight crossing Mon with cabins. Get to port and find they have only allocated one and no more available, then they couldn't accept credit cards cos machine broke, revert to cash. Got on boat and they found us 2nd cabin, oh where did that come from? bonus, didn't charge us for 2nd one. P&O about as disorganised as ACO. Got to camp site and they tried to put in back of beyond and we specifically asked for power when we booked a year ago. So then they move us next to  a toilet block, ok I suppose. 3hrs spent setting up, then we get visit from site staff telling us we are in wrong place and must move back or they will get Police. After long negotiation with nice English speaking lady, managed to stay where we are but had to pay more money, wonder where that went? Also brought wrong poles for our frame tent which looks a bit saggy, but at least all the fridges are working and the beer is nice and cold!!
If you are on your way to Houx feel free to drop in for a cold beer. We are by the toilet/shower block on the left hand side about 150m from entrance, England flag on frame tent near to pitch 280.

Best wishes to all, have a good one.

Paul,Paul,Elaine,Andy, Trev and Richard & Lee just arrived more to follow.

Well done JP.
Car stickers received, many thanks,
I don't think the postman had any trouble reading my name and address on the envelope!
Will install sticker in van tomorrow, and distribute the rest to other members in party.
Best wishes. Smiley

Sorry, bit tired.
Last sentence should read: " ...if anyone stuck"
Roll on next Tues!!

Sorry about the confusion.
You can wire a French plug to a UK 13A 4way trailing socket, no problem.
16A caravan plugs/sockets are not necessary. It's just the way we do it because we take plenty of made up cables and plug them together and no custom making of cables necessary and they are splashproof unlike standard 13A plugs/sockets. You never know how far away from the power you will be.
Plugs are available in French supermarkets.
Please feel free to contact me for further advice.
Should have plenty of spare bits if any stuck.

Have camped on Houx 5 out of 7 years at LM and we are lucky to be there this year (if tickets arrive!) and I am sparkie by trade!
You will need an adaptor lead to go from standard French plug to 16A socket (industrial type) as used on caravans and available from most caravan shops for around a fiver (I bought components and made my own). Then a cable to your pitch and then convert to standard UK sockets. Cable to pitch may need to be considerable length, maybe 10m or as much as 50m, so be prepared. I always take plenty of cable just in case, the thought of warm beer doesn't bear thinking about. Please contact me if you are unsure. E-mail: p.f.cooke@talk21.com . If you are on Houx- Non numbered then power is not available.

Only just registered on the forum but been reading CA for last few years so thought I would show my support and send you a fiver for some stickers.
I'll put a cheque in the post tomorrow. What happens if over subscribed? looks like it could go that way.

Also like the idea of T-shirts.
