I totally agree with Smokie, Ecclestone's behavior was as usual, totally unacceptable and once again showed him to be a total 4rse who doesn't care about the sport (?) or it's fans as long as he is leeching off his multi-millions per race. A pathetic excuse for a human being IMHO.

I thought that Martin Brundle articulated his view exceedingly well and was probably the only person to emerge from the whole debacle with any credit.

Forgot to mention following a D-type on a twisty D road (where else?) on the way down; he wasn't holding back. It was a real privilege to see.

1. The superb fireworks displays around the campsite this year. Must be the best year yet.
2. The entertainment inadvertently provided by our camp site neighbour; a the 40+ year old “Max Power”Essex boy in his be-winged Sierra Cosworth. “Been burning of Ferrari’s all effing day”. etc etc etc ……priceless
3. Touring the Group C paddock and seeing so many fabulous memory evoking cars. Shame the race was such a shambles !
4. Finally getting to drive on a part of the circuit other than the Mulsanne straight.
5. The joy of taking a shower in a cubicle without a turd in it.

I admit (confess?) that I still religiously buy Autosport every week but I find that large chunks of it remain unread a week later when the next issue is religiously brought home. Until now, I had not really analysed whether my interest in the sport that had declined or whether the mag was simply not such a good read any more. Many of your comments encouraged me to examine the reality for the first time and I have to agree that the standards of journalism and general readability have definitely declined in recent years.
I still rate the writing of Nigel Roebuck but even he is beginning to p155 me off a bit. The political comment (I buy the Daily Mail if I want to read anti-Blair rants), the smokers rights nonsense (what about heroin addicts and glue sniffers rights ?) and the endless “off-the-record” F1 team employee quotes being referred to as murmurs.(“Michael likes to win races” a team member murmured, “Juan Pablo can be a bit wild” a team member murmured, “F1 has become a dull joke” a senior FIA man murmured).
Also, has anyone ever seen them write something critical of the bewigged money-grabbing midget who runs the show. I know that they receive lots if letters about this because my friends and myself write to them on this subject frequently.
So Autosport has become a bit of a joke but what is the alternative ?

What's this crap about the ACO people on the phone being helpful Angry  A couple of years ago, I got a French person from work to phone them and enquire about the whereabouts of our tickets and they denied ever having received the original order. We then paid through the nose for tickets through a rip-off agent; two days later we received our original order of tickets through the post from the ACO. Aaaauuuuuugggghhhhh Sad Sad

Don't forget the footy. England v France on Sunday night in Euro 2004. How sweet will be to go into a French bar and watch the mighty England beat the cheating, diving Arsenal b4stard5 (hey, I can dream) Smiley
12  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Caterham off ? on: June 19, 2003, 03:19:27 pm
Heard a rumour that a Caterham had an off wilst drag racing on the road outside Bleu and broke a girl's leg.  Anyone know anything more or is it all b0llocks? Sad
