As a 'newbie' I've enjoyed this thread, and FWIW, the last of the 333SP longtails always sounded 'musical' to my battered senses!
And the Panoz always made the best and 'rudest' noise ... must be too much Australiana V8 exposure over the years.
I missed the early 90s but just about any full on racing rotary can wring the wax from my ears and water from my eyes!
