2  Club Arnage / It Happened To Me / Fair Cop !!!! on: June 21, 2006, 01:14:10 pm
Hi All,

Just arrived back from a super Le Mans weekend.

Had a bit of a run in with the local Gendarmarie, twice !!
First occassion was on the Rouen to Le Mans N road just before Sees.
It was a bit ironic really coz I was sticking to the speed limit when 3 guys
in an A4 convertible with jesters hats on went flying past about 3 cars at
warp factor 1.  A few miles up the road they were pulled in by the old bill....
As me and my mate were laughing at their misfortune.....we got pulled too
Fortunately it was just a check of the licence, and a friendly wave off.

Second occasion was a bit more serious....We were on a camp site in the French
section of the forest at Indianapolis, having lunch and a couple of beers before
the start of the race, when we had a call from a friend who was trying to find us.
He had his Dad and friend with him who were in the throes of the start of heatstroke.

So as a good Samaritan, we popped out for the short 2 mile drive through the forest
to pick them up. Coming back - two local motorbike cops decided to pull us and read the riot act
One was seriously p****d off and breathlyser came out. I was not sure what the result was
but after some frantic gesticulation between good cop and bad cop and my french host, they agreed on a 90 euro fine.  Those words ' you may go ' sounded so sweet !!
According to my french mate....the p****d off cop was so annoyed because he was
trying to chase me along the dirt track and fell off his bike !!!

I soon became a local hero with our French hosts.....

Personally there were a few things I didn't like this year :

1. They closed Indianapolis to the public for the duration of Mad Friday

2. Didn't like the new village.....it's lost it's character

3. Too many cops spoiling the fun.

Apart from that.....I will be there next year for the 15th year on the trot !!!

Cheers

Steve
3  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Radar traps on: June 21, 2005, 03:00:16 pm
We travelled across from Rouen to Le Mans on Friday morning, and as always there were the inevitable french money making radar traps to catch some unwitting brits.

We decided to tootle along at 80kph in our Porsche 911/ Pug 206 16v GTI/Ferrari 456GT when lo and behold a brace of red Ferraris (360, 355, 308 ? ) and a grey Bentley Arnage went blasting past between Gace and Alencon.

If you were those guys...did you not see the flashing headlights coming the other way ?

Old Monsieur Rozzer was parked up on the right hand grass verge in his unmarked 406 with his binos looking through the screen. We thought you had got away with it, but so predictably, some 5 - 6 miles farther on there you all were getting coughing up your hard earned cash to le old bill.

Did you do it deliberately ?? coz it looked like you wanted it, ....  and how much did you get clobbered ??
4  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Most memorable moment ?? on: June 21, 2005, 11:27:11 am
Compared to last year, we thought there were fewer gendarmes patrolling Indianapolis on 'Mad Friday'

We managed to get loads of burnouts without them spoiling it too much ......not like last year.

Most memorable moment was being asked to ' Show those hairdressers in their Boxster pussymobiles how to light the rears up' outside the pub by the main entrance. We were in an F reg red 420 hp 911.

6500 rpm and a dropped clutch followed by a 5m line of rubber brought a huge roar from the crowd....thanks guys....we loved doing it

Sorry to the Twingo driver in front that we almost ploughed into.....thanks to AP for their six pot calipers !!!!

Roll on 2006 !!!
