16  Club Arnage / It Happened To Me / Re: Ferry Costs- how do they work? on: July 23, 2006, 10:01:48 pm
I arranged the ferry bookings for the cobra club to attend Le Classic this year and we travelled Newhaven - Dieppe for £40 return, car +2 people.
Spoke to all the various ferry companies and eurotunnel and none of them could beat Transmanche Ferries.
Also Dieppe is only 165 miles to Le mans.

Direct Line offer a good service as well, very similar to the AA, only cost an extra £32 for the 5 days we were at the classic. Hire car, hotel expenses, loss of money all included, so personal cover as well as the car.
We already have the full recovery, home start etc for the Jeep, but as a bonus they cover the cob on breakdown and recovery for £23.00 a year as a second vehicle, bonus.

I used to be involved in the 2CV championship, and the 24hr races, although in my time they were at Mondello in Eire Grin Grin
If I can help with any info just shout.
I didnt race I just put the car together and looked after it during the season and the 24hrs.
Best team is 3/4 drivers, team manager, 2 good mechanics, and 4 or 5 others who know there way around the car, plus a couple of people to share the pit board duties, that way everyone can get a break etc and there are still enough to sort the car at pit stops. Oh and dont forget the guys doing the refuelling.
We used to do engine changes in 12mins from memory so 8 is very very good.
