16  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: ELMS are cancelling the last two rounds on the European calendar on: July 22, 2012, 04:12:50 pm
Hmm.  Well, I guess they still get the TV coverage but I'm not sure I'd be very impressed with this if I were a European team with little US interest in the product on offer from my sponsors.  Sadly Narac won't be at Spa or I'd have asked him!  I don't suppose Porsche minds.

What happens, GF, to teams like IMSA Porsche Matmut?  Do the organisers/Porsche/whoever help with the costs which will be involved in shipping the car to the States, or are the sponsors expected to pick up the tab (given that they're pretty much French insurers and a French Porsche dealership and don't have much of a US market as far as I know?)  It does seem a bit tough on the European teams to have to go all that way unless there's some help.  I'm sure the info' is out there somewhere but thought you'd probably know the answer!

Thank you.

Found yourself a pusher yet?

Werner, HGB et al!  If we find ourselves by chance across the border on our trip to Belgium next week, and near a city centre in Germany, how easy is it to get the sticker in a hurry, and where's the best place to get one from, cost wise - I understand the charges for admin' can vary?
20  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Scoring tower for Le Mans - A good thing, or a blot on the landscape? on: July 20, 2012, 04:24:50 pm
I see there are rather more new things in the other pics in that release than just a scoring tower.  I assume that most of it is fanciful for the moment but it looks quite interesting.

??  The other pics are of Indianapolis.
Doh.

(Pr*t.)Just so long as whatever else they build they put lifts in so I can get higher up and see over the catch fencing....PS, Werner, I stole your idea and put it in my Facebook response!  Hope you'll forgive me.. Embarrassed

Nothing I can find, nor on his facebook page.

LM is lots of things but pretty it ain't!  If it helps us to know who's where in the race then I say, great - good to see the proposal is to go that low down the scoring - these top ten boards they have  elsewhere are just u/s for long distance, multi-class racing.

Told as only you can tell it, H.

Mr T got taken out one Sunday by a friend to see "his mate's garage" which had "a few old cars in it."  A similar scenario really.

This was it:

Sadly, the mate - Paul Foulkes Halbard - died later that year.

extremely small chance that i will be there. ill be in France at that time. if i can convince my brother to do it, we will be there. not terribly likely.
Go on, you know you want to. Evil  If you've never been then you don't know what you're missing.

Too close to Spa for us so I'm doing the WEC instead - and to be honest, I still prefer modern racing, no matter how lovely the Classic cars are.  Would have been nice to hook up though.  Have a good one.

Thanks, Mr Cheese.  Sadly it's a number I can't dial cheaply from here.  Will get Paul to have a go.

Thanks sceetum - I will certainly call upon you if necessary - all depends upon whether or not Paul is coming.  I have invested in a new pop-up tent which, unlike the Quecha ones, you don't have to be a gymnast to pack up again so it should be fairly simple to do.  Here's hoping. Smiley

If it's any use I can send you a better image direct if you pm me, Jules.

Thanks, will keep an eye out (I rarely visit Facebook.)  Just need to know there'll be some friendly tent-pitchers about... Wink

I do manage the Bus Stop without too much effort, plus you can come at the top of the circuit via the road and do it that way.  Also Eau Rouge, and La Source from the paddock entrance.    There's also a lift to the bar in the paddock where photography is quite good. I'm getting quite an expert at this stuff now!

The main problem for me is camping so we're in a hotel which isn't quite the same but still I wouldn't miss it.
