1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Still the same old faces.... on: June 19, 2016, 10:45:42 pm
After several years away from the great gathering I met some friends in a pub this weekend whom I first went to Le Mans with almost 25 years ago... I spent the rest of the weekend glued to the box watching Eurosport, then dropped in here to see if it was all still going only to see several familiar names and characters! Hope you are all well and had a great week. Got a feeling I may well be back next year.

Looks like you are right, just went and had a look on the ross website..

http://www.tv.com/friday-night-with-jonathan-ross/show/8139/summary.html

Next episode: Richard Hammond, Lee Evans, Liz Smith, G4, Jarvis Cocker.
Lee Evans makes his 90 twelfth appearance on the show and G4 make their first, as does actress Liz Smith, star of The Royle Family (and countless other programmes).

Jarvis Cocker, erstwhile of Pulp and permanently of weedy stature performs a new song from his eponymous solo album and Richard Hammond - who could fit easily in Jarvis's pocket, gives his first television interview since he survived a 288mph jet car crash whilst filming for Top Gear in September. How hard is he!? Don't spill his pint for God's sake.

Three blokes -- a Canadian farmer, Osama bin Laden and an Australian engineer -- are working together one day.

They come across a lantern and a Genie pops out of it. "I will give each of you one wish, which is three wishes total," says the Genie.

The Canadian says, "I am a farmer, my dad was a farmer, and my son will also farm. I want the land to be forever fertile in Canada ."

Pooooof!

With the blink of the Genie's eye, the land in Canada was forever made fertile for farming.

Osama bin Ladin was amazed, so he said, "I want a wall around Afghanistan , Iraq and Iran so that no  infidels, Jews or Australians can come into our precious state."

Pooooof!

Again, with the blink of the Genie's eye, there was a huge wall around those countries.

The Australian engineer says, "I am very curious. Please tell me more about this wall."

The Genie explains, "Well, it's about 5000 feet high, 500 feet thick and completely surrounds the  country. Nothing can get in or out it's completely impenetrable."

The Australian engineer says, "Fill the bastard with water."

The only tickets I can find for sale are £350 for a hospitality package.

Look harder Bob.  I've found tickets for £70.20 inc booking fee.  No dodgy buffet and warm champers.  Just lots of beer in the Orange Tree beforehand.  Grin

Sh1t, mine were direct with the ERSC and they had a face value of £55 so £70 ain't bad at all... go on Bob do it you know you want to...

I wish. The only tickets I can find for sale are £350 for a hospitality package.

And being an HA camper you can't afford those I suppose?

Call it supply and demand if you like but it is the same at any big sporting event the true fan is always ripped off.
If the RFU had got any bollocks they would tell the agencies and hostpitality companys to go f**ck themselves and sell the tickets to the real fans.

Trouble is Bob using the old tickets to local clubs to be entered into a ballot still doesn't work, unfortunately there are clubs and certain individuals that will still sell their ticket allocation on the quiet to make (1) extra cash for the club (2) more likely - extra cash for themselves....

At the end of the day I agree the real fan does suffer, but show me a way of making ticket allocation fair, I've not seen one yet.

Anyway I'll have a beer or two for you on Sunday the M3 won't be touched as I shall be partaking in a few more than is wise... you could always meet with Pitbull for the Argentina game he is in the West Stand up with the gods!!

Sorry, haven't posted for a while, new job, moving house and all that!

Just checking if anyone is there for the match, should be there from about 11.30 with Gazza.

Pitbull is going the week after for the Argentina game.

Anyone going and fancy meeting for a pint or two?

Some of us are still around Robbo, just keeping our heads down but still keeping an eye on the forum.

Brad, I was looking at the bike thing as well. Have you done much digging around yet, was thinking of going to the local shop to see what they would recommend as the best way to get the license and a reasonable bike without killing myself  Undecided

Two blokes are pushing their shopping trolleys around a supermarket when
they collide.

The first bloke says to the second bloke, "Sorry about that. I'm looking
for my wife, and I guess I wasn't paying attention to where I was
going".

The second bloke says, "That's OK. It's a coincidence. I'm looking for
my wife, too. I can't find her and I'm getting a little desperate".

The first bloke says, "Well, maybe we can help each other. What does
your wife look like"?

The second bloke says, "Well, she is 27 yrs old, 5 feet 11 inches tall,
with blonde hair, blue eyes, big jubblies, long legs and is wearing tiny
little shorts and a crop top. What does your wife look like?"

The first bloke says, "Doesn't matter, let's look for yours."

Think we got about £350 -£400 in total between us, still trying to collect it.

Must say it was a good ride, I would like to do it again but the trouble is it seems to always clash with Le Mans, and I know what will win next year  Wink

Sorry to have hi-jacked the thread Andy... but there again some things never change! I'll get back in me box now and keep quiet, just please don't tell the gimp  Shocked
12  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Cowes Week on: July 31, 2006, 08:33:53 pm

Indeed, but I have a (limited) supply of VIP entry passes!

PS How the fu-ck are you mate? Missed you not being at LM this year!

Doing alright mate, must say I missed it more than I thought I would this year. Think it was more than banter than the whole race!

Ended up doing the London to Brighton bike ride with Gazza, actually came right by the end of Handcross and then onto Ditchling Beacon, now that is a hill, but it was all for a good cause.

Will be there next year, more than likely catch up with Team Zarse at event in the near future!

Next time you plan on travelling up the A303 drop us a note I am sure we can meet up for a beer or two, better than stopping at the services!
13  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Cowes Week on: July 31, 2006, 05:27:13 pm
Oh well, next year  Sad

I would add that other than the cost of the ferry to get there and your beer vouchers, entry to the party in the yacht haven is free!

If I remember correctly, entry into the main area was only free before a certain time. Can't be sure or remember what the time was sorry.
14  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Cowes Week on: July 31, 2006, 04:53:12 pm
Went last year and it was fantastic, really would recommend this to anyone.

Can't make it this year as I'm off to the Alps next Friday to see what damage I can do to myself on me bike  Grin
15  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Dumbing Down? on: June 02, 2006, 05:02:37 pm
I think the RML line up is reasonable, yes Wallace is getting on but it ain't just about being fast and if anyone knows the circuit it should be him.

Tommy is always a top performer in the LMP2 category both Mike Newton and Tommy were driving this entry last year and won LMP2 with Warren Hughes.

Hope they can put in a good show again this year.
