Aco's reply Category 1 Areas are very popular and benefit from more qualitative services than lower category Areas. We remain at your disposal for any further information
That's hilarious! I wonder what the ACO class as "qualitative" then as there is now no leccy (well, officially anyhow) on Houx or Epinettes?

Its almost as if they are deliberately pricing people out of Epinettes and Houx. The only real difference appears to be the screen and food stall/ bar - maybe they didnt make the income expected.
Had a pleasant spot in Epinettes this year, however will look at Houx Annex or Beausejour for next year. Houx Annexe just looks a bit open to me.
We've been on Epinettes since it opened as refugees from Maison Blanche and loved it - a little less rowdy as we have all got that bit older but were bumped to BSJ for '23 as we just couldn't get tickets for Epi. With th eprice increase we're now off there for good and it's back to BSJ for us again now. Yes, BSJ is not the pick of the bunch, but when we're buying 10ish pitches the price difference now cover all the catering for the week.

I'm sort of working on the basis that compared to the British F1 GP weekend it remains good value. And if I keep saying that to myself...... but I do look on it that as a week in France with mates and an iconic motor race thrown in it can't be beaten. So I'll still be going while I can
I'm totally with you. Frankly, if they doubled the prices, I'd still be going.... That's always what we think. Painful price rises but a great week with friend's. Let's be honest, it's what the ACO are banking upon - unsustainable rises (percentage-wise) supported by a do-or-die loyal fan base. The majority of us are moaning and feel exploited, myself included, but the majority of us will still ultimately pay up and go, again, myself included.

I'm confused (no change there then) We use an agency, as the ACO never had much for sale. We now want to change campsite to one nearer the Tribunes. If we can, probably 3 of our geriatrics will want to come, so we'll need more pitches, which we probably won't be able to get. This has been a nightmare for 30 years Good luck with that plan, all the sites near the tribunes don't exist anymore and the increase in camping pitch prices direct from the ACO, even with members discount, are eye watering, agency prices are going to be extremely painful. After 21 years attending I'm bailing out, don't like the piss taken out!!!! It's nearly cheaper to go to Sebring! So sad! The entry and especially the camping ticket prices have now got so out of hand I'm giving very serious consideration to putting our marquees up in my garden and having our Le Mans week there instead !!

I just looked it up: This year the ACO price for the Houx campsite was 125,- , now they are asking 175,- for next year, a 40% increase! This can't be justified with inflation only. Looks like the subject of this thread is spot on!
Have you also noted Werner that they are now advertising Houx as WITHOUT electricity, if that is actually the case and not a typo, that's a whole lot less for a whole bunch more .....

Sadly I cant remember what other years are to compare for camping I just pay it As an example, Epinettes was (Member price/Public price): 90/105 in 2021, 92/107 in 2022, I have no price for this year as we were bumped to BSJ and they are now 147 /175 for 2024, I'd say that's a pretty meteoric rise for no added value whatsoever.

A few weeks after the agencies? From what I understand, the agencies have no idea right now (as last year) what their 'slice' will be.....
OK, to be clear, a few weeks after the ACO have decided what the agency slices will be (but may or may not have informed them) - ergo, we get the scrapings that are left.

Just think of it as paying a few euros for the chance to purchase tickets a few weeks after the agencies and corporates have taken their slice, and a few days before the general public - pretty much every other benefit there ever was is now either scrapped or available at additional cost.

... I'm either going to use the newly-purchased electric car, ....
Welcome back, long time no speak Paul. Regardless of which car you use, make sure you purchase a Green entry ticket to get a discounted entry. You will need to upload a copy of your V5 at a later date to prove you have an EV, but there's no requirement to actually travel in it We've used this option for the past 2 years to save a little cash on the GE costs.
