1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Sorry I've been away, but I've missed you all. on: November 20, 2010, 12:48:11 am
I've been rather quiet for some time now and most of you have probably forgotten me.

There are several reasons, one was health. I now have a pro-active doctor.

The main reason is based on sanity and I'm being tested to the limits on this.

Last year, Ruth and myself decided to bring her parents over from Belfast to live with us. But in January this year Leftie Snr (Vernon) injured his Achilies tenton and couldn't get about. Decission to include him in the 'commune'.

We now needed a 6 bedroom bungalow, very rare. We settled for a chalet style in Shaftesbury.

In looking at and in properties, has put 2k miles on the motor. We searched everywhere in Surrey, W & E Sussex, Hampshire, Bershire, Wiltshire. Then Dorset, this place is ideal.
But living with a 90,89 and 86 yro is driving me around the frigging bend. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASIER TO BUY A FRIGGING OAP REST HOME!!!!!!!

Anyway, we are settling in and boxes still need to be emptied.

Any CA members living in or near Shaftesbury? Some sanity is required..................

I'll update in a while.

What one has to remember is that besides the 2927 pilots that took part in this epic air battle, there were 20,000 plus ground crew keeping them up there and all the WRAF's at ops guiding them under great personal pressures.

During this battle, my Dad was in the Raf guiding our fighters and bombers over enemy territory using mobile radar etc. He doesn't speak about it much.

Six weeks after D Day, he was sent as a replacement to Omaha beach with the yanks and was immediately issued with yankie a uniform.

After a few drinks last week, I learned some more of what and where.  I wouldn't have the guts to what he did.

By the way, he was Corporal Jones!!!!!

So, they want to compete against the Astons again!

I dare say that now that they have shown thier cards, there will be more developments from the other GP2 &3 teams.  Interesting.......
4  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Bruichladdich - why those colours? on: July 03, 2010, 03:14:00 am
I'm WELSH and enjoy Real Malt - Scottish.

Who frigging cares what colour a car racing is! The Malt is good. (great medicine)

Can anyone explaing me why the Bruichladdich Ginetta-Zytek was running English colours at Le Mans. Enjoying Islay malts, I know that's a part of Scotland. As a Dane, I'd say this would be as wrong as if a Carlsberg sponsored car was running Swedish colours!  Grin

Cheers,
Anders

Having previously raced, sprinted, hillclimbed in the UK. My ultimate ambitition was to do the 24hr.

There was no way I could endure the stress these guys go through.

Agreed, I wasn't good enough even to be considered unless I had money and big corporate finance.(But could I do it? No way) I would just like to race the circuit. I gave up my national lisense in '92.

It's suprising that at a slight angle impact at high speed can create little damage, but the 'personal and physical' can be immense.

Just hope that the Mansell family with their squillions will fund another entry.

The 'stats' I read, was that 55K Brits went this year. It would be good for the marketing angle to ensure that the Mansall's booked thier next year.

6  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Holland 2 Brazil 1! on: July 03, 2010, 02:09:02 am
Good result, but bit of a 'dirty' game on both sides in my view from both sides.

The age old addage was:-

RUGBY is a game for Thugs played by Gentlemen,
FOOTBALL is a game for Gentlemen played bt Thugs.

And that's exactly what we saw.

The Brazil players were arguing about every knock, whilst Holland weren't. Both were excessively hard in tackling.

But hey, if thats the nature of the game now, so be it.

The Ghana game was very good, the ball skiull was superbe

Snokie,

I understand you comments and generally agree with them. But are are 'races' that do this in the UK, Somalies are prevalent in this kind of tactic. I had had knife at my jugular untill a a size 2 shovel landed him at Kings Cross.  He was from eatern europe, but judging at the force of the shovel by one of my site gang, he may be permenant in hospital at our cost. That was in '94. But agreed the east europeans are definately up there.

The 'police' (OK, I've annoyed a few people) don't really want to know. Too much paperwork and target square crossing agendas.

The sooner we get rid of paperwork and get the job done, the better life will be.

'A new starting ceremony :A reference to the famous Le Mans herringbone start!

I think the term is 'eschelon' as herringbone is one up, one across and they would crash.

Anyway, I'd like to see the guys run across the track, open doors, buckle themselves in in the modern machinery.  It would take 2mins from flag drop to first car moving judging by their complexity.

We'll have to have a special Disabled CAers t-shirt at this rate, Leftie! When the chance arrives, I'll investigate.

How about a montage.....

LMP 1 shaped wheelchair/buggy, Aero zimmer and tean coloured sticks.

About 4 years ago, we (Team Red Dragon) where thinking of building a body for an old electric buggy. A 'Charicature' shape for trolling around the 'track' at Expo.  But, it went to a better and usefull cause.

I'm now actively looking for a suitale bungalow, not just for me but for my Dad, and Ruth's Mum and Dad. (Should really think of buying an 'Old Peoples Home' or even a bloody hospital).

Can you imagine, the drive/carpark laid out as a circuit!!!!!

It won't be long before the terms 'clockwork' or 'rubber band' returns.

Beeing between garage 50 and the new extention I wonder if this pit would be known as "Arier 51"?

Rockwell..............................................!!!

Neil,

Plenty of room to pack the tent and kitchen sink in that. But would be difficult in the ailes of carrefors.

Love the idea though, already thought about a Goldwing Trike.

Main problem being a wheelchair, I would just go round in circles  Grin

Will take this offline, but it's about neighbours' trees/bushes overhanging my property.

Please pm me if you can help.

Del

Del,

Basically you need to ask them to trim/lop thier tree/bush.  If they refuse, give in writing that you will undertake the work with an estimate from a tree surgeon.  If no action, as Peter says, trim/lop and cuttings returner to owner.

Check out cases involving Lalandii trees.

Debs,Werner, Rhino,

Many thaks for your thoughts and everyone who read this.

It would be great to have some imput 'alternative access' for the less abled amungst us.

Recently I've used a 'stick occasionally. The amount of people in supermarkets with trolley's that have knocked it away and have not apologised or even helped is unbelievable. Generally us brits (small b) are useless wasted aresholes. But CA members are just, ........................ what can I say?" just so friendly and helpfull. If the whole world was like us, just think.............

I need a tank sized buggy!!!!!

Debs, I hope everything with is getting on track (pun not intended).

I can only spend about 30mins every couple of days on the net, so have to think in advance and batch everything. Or I'm in pain.

Doc' saw me on Monday. more xrays booked next week on Thorasic area of spine.
