2072  Club Arnage / It Happened To Me / Fireworks on: April 14, 2004, 10:53:12 pm
In 2002 we camped in Blue car park - next to a bloke called John - a Stockbroker from London - driving a Testarossa. Got chatting and he opened the bonnet of the Testarossa to reveal 15 of the biggest fireworks you have ever seen!! and he had reputedly been doing 160 on the way down! About midnight on Friday night he decided that it was time for a firework so got a nice big rocket and headed of down to the road along side camping blue - the rest of us following at a safe distance. He planted said rocket discretely in the banking - but a bit to well - the fuse was quite long, as he retreated to a safe distance (there were a number of gendarme fairly close as they had cleared the burnout crowd) a couple for geordie lads - a bit worst for ware wandered past and sat down virtually beside said rocket. When this thing started to try and lift (it was too late to warn the Geordie's but they soon noticed it as the ground began to shake and were then possibly the fastest thing in le mans!) it was stuck in the bank and despite having the rocket power of an Apollo to a few seconds to wrench itself free. The result was that it only got about 20 feet before exploding - poor geordies having the best underside view, (but took it with good humour - when they got their hearing back) all beat a hasty retreat away from the advancing Gendarme who were not so amused!!

ELLLOOOOOoo

I am snoring Rhino junior - Brad for short, you may have heard of my trip to Le-mans from my father...

By far the best racing weekend I have been to,  a big thanks to the ACO, the Bentley Boys and Audi UK for putting on a wicked show,  not to mention my Dad for sorting out the arrangements and the insurance etc etc........he is still under the illusion that i am going to pay him back  Grin

Thankyou also to Susy,  one of my colleagues who leant me the biggest water pistol i have ever seen, which nearly got me a black eye, and a night in custody with a french policeman......  Roll Eyes

So now we look to next year - we learnt that you cannot fit a fridge in an MGF this year - a bad thing given the heat - i think we need to recruit someone with a van for next year......

Also,  if any of you are in a position to influence exchange rates, making the euro worthless would be good - please......

sure I'll see you all at some point........

Laters

2083  Club Arnage / Help / Re:Driving Down South (UK) on: June 05, 2003, 12:23:15 pm
You'll also do better doing M6 to M5 (to avoide Spaggetti Jct) to M42 to M40 - should be OK on the M25 south by the time you hit it though.
Have a good weekend.
Ian
