1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Who, Where, What When etc 2023 on: June 02, 2023, 10:21:05 pm
Five Zarses this year under the aegis of Camp Robbo. We have our own “Harry and Meghan” flying in from the USA to grace us with their presence. I’m wondering if our friend the Gimp my show up too? Whatever we’re staying on the hippo-campus or whatever it’s called, we’re deeply suspicious of the ACO but we will see. Travelling out Tuesday 11.00am Newhaven to Dieppe, returning on the midnight express on Monday. Look out for the Rover and three idiots.

Nothing to do with tickets DW, just nice to see you’re still around and going to LM!

I should have mentioned, this year’s race marked the 20th anniversary of the Commer’s inaugural trip to Le Mans.

I’m happy to report the Commer remains in the hands of the guy I sold it to and is partly restored. Currently tucked away under cover awaiting happier days.

Meanwhile here’s a great YouTube link to the V8 Commer above. Smokin’!

After 34 straight years from 1986 to 2019, I missed 2020.....
Me too, what a coincidence.  I remember your website years ago - didn't realise it was still going

1988-2019 for me, now happy to be going back after the enforced hiatus.

Me and Brad Z in the TVR, Bob U, Doris and ByKarlos in Bob’s Discovery. Out Newhaven to Dieppe on Wednesday morning, back on Monday evening. Staying on BN with Team Robbo. Come say hi if passing through this year.

France only counts people who have had both shots of vaccines not just 1.

Do you know why? What is the statistical and/or scientific reasoning? What are they telling the public?

Modified to add that a reliable source advises me that the French figures are in fact including single jabs and yes, the situation really is that bad! I am really surprised this is happening in an election year, surely M. Macaroon is going to get a proper kicking in the polls?

I hate to say it but I'm still not convinced we will be allowed to go to LM this year, or if we are that it will be a full crowd.
Whilst we may be vaccinating at a fast rate, the rest of Europe isn't.

As in all things, time will tell.
Sadly and slightly surprisingly France is still lagging the Uk. We have vaccinated more people in the last three days than they have in total. I thought they were good at this sort of thing.

Excellent, more foreign HGVs off our overcrowded potholed roads.

Decision has been made today, in light of the ACO announcement today. We cannot live with the restrictions. Me, Leigh and the rump gang have called it a day. The end of a 32 year unbroken attendance and that's sad but I'll live with it. For those who are going, have a wonderful time.

Hope you are going to be there next year,

BN could be like this in Sept

You better believe it and with knobs on!

Looking forard to seeing you gentlemen on BN.

That said, I am not getting over-exited at this early juncture. So much relies on there not being a significant second spike in France, especially in the weeks after the French holidays in August when they all crowd together in the same places on the coast. However, the ACO seem determined to put on some sort of a show so I am cautiously optimistic we will be there. If so, great. If not, c'est la vie <Gallic shrug>

Such terribly sad news. His writing was a complete joy to read. RIP Baloo

Hey Guys.  Been a long time since I've been on the CA site.  Good to see some of the old timers still posting.  Congrats on 25 years of excellent information and help to race fans interested in sports car racing.  I haven't been to Le Mans, Sebring, or Petit Le Mans in quite a few years.  Am now in Colorado for the summers to escape the hot, humid summers in Houston.  So I have hooked up to the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb in Colorado Springs as a race official.  (like a track worker).  So if anyone finds themselves wanting to see some Race to the Clouds racing come on to Colorado Springs the last Sunday of June.  Finish line is 14,110 feet.  Second oldest racing event in the USA.

Hi John

Lovely to hear from you after all this time. Delighted to hear you are well and still enjoying your racing. Pikes Peak is a bucket list thing for me so if I ever make it I will certainly hook up with you. I hope all is well and best wishes to you!  Andy Zarse
