16/17 June is the official date. Has been confirmed by FIA World motor sport council earlier this week:

Quote
FIA World Endurance Championship

The date for the 2018 Le Mans 24 Hours was approved for 16-17 June. The full calendar of the FIA World Endurance Championship will be presented to the World Motor Sport Council at a later date.

In my calendar! Smiley

"my guys", eh, Paul? Tsk. Cheeky sod, Dementia Alan! Wink

Um, well, I didn't say anything to the couple next to us as they kept themselves to themselves, but the fact the site location was perhaps noisier than others was clearly stated to him.

I managed to get some sleep whilst the rest were partying, mainly because I was ill. Earplugs and put up with whatever isn't blocked out.
I knew what to expect from my first LM in 2009. Someone who's been going 20+ years should STFU.

@ Tom to the Danes: "I told them their bacon was sh*t!" Hahahahahaha! Good PR, fella! Wink

I see we have dates to aim at for 2018, 16/17 Jun is race weekend. Looking forward to it already.

Provisional dates, I understood, since the FIA haven't finalised their full 2018 calendar?

36  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Question: Bringing drinks to the track? on: June 28, 2016, 02:08:57 pm
I was "searched" on Thu going to qualies in the evening, but not very well as I had 6 x 500ml cans of beer in my bag and they didn't find them!

As Paul noted above, we were stopped & searched from the Tram at Antares back into the circuit late on Fri night, but we didn't have any boopze on us, then.... although we weren't searched on our way IN to the circuit from BN earlier on Fri - when again I had a load in my bag!

Sat: not searched. I took cans in.

Sun: searched. I had no beers on me as I was driving later in the day.

One thing you CAN be sure of, never expect consistency when it comes to the ACO!

Last year, probably due to Le President ( aka twat ) waving the start flag, all that the security staff were checking were chair bags, presumably for sniper rifles.  Grin

Also remember the vast majority of the crowd is French, and not being able to get a bottle of wine into the circuit for lunch would be an affront to their civil liberties.

We took in a dozen bottles of beer and a bottle of champagne with no issues.

I think you did well there, Barry. We took some Cider for JJ on Post 19 and it was taken away as it was in glass bottles. I've never been stopped with my usual Stella cans in my backpack, though - but that may have been only by luck!

Or to do Spa with a bit more style fly Easyjet from Gatwick to Luxembourg.  This year it cost us £45.90 each return!

Hotel rooms in Luxembourg city are cheap on Friday & Saturday night as they make their money the rest of the week due to the EU Commission and all of the big European HQ's based in the town.

Plenty of places to eat & drink and prices are ok.

Hire a (small) car for the day and drive up through the beautiful Ardennes to Spa.  It's about 130 km.

Back to Lux on Saturday night after the race and then catch the flight home on Sunday afternoon.

Starting September 2016: "Roiyanair" from Stansted to Luxurybourg, for those norf of Laaandon.

41  Club Arnage / 2016 / FOR SALE: 3 x SPA WEC tickets & P1 parking on: May 04, 2016, 04:38:31 pm
Due to changing circumstances, and also having won a competition with Ford Belgium, I have 3 GA tickets for this weekend, and a parking pass available in P1, nearest Eau Rouge on the outside of the track.

GA Tickets were €31 ea
Parking was €15 ea
€95 the lot, or £75 of your finest Sterling, as you may wish.

I can sell the GA near the gate if needed, but I'd rather do that here and not faff about on Saturday, if at all possible.
After all, there are cars to watch and beers to drink!

42  Club Arnage / Help / Re: Anyone know about selling shares in a hostile take over? on: April 22, 2016, 03:41:07 pm
Hi Tom,

Paul (Landman) alerted me to this thread a day or so ago, but I was so busy I couldn't comment then.

As you commented, if it's too good to be true, it usually is! My concern was more how they got your details? I'd be surprised if Registrars are selling shareholder data.

Hedge funds DON'T pay 3x the share's value, ever. They buy for peanuts, sue companies - governments, even, in the case of Argentina - and make an absolute killing.
That's why hedge fund managers are billionaires. Balls of steel and poker faced. You have to have liquid assets >$100m or be registered as a QFI to even INVEST in a hedge fund!

UK takeover rules require disclosures to be made. As soon as any registered holder exceeds a % holding limit they're required, under Section 212 of UK securities law, to disclose WHY, and if they intend to make a bid for the company.

It's far more common for shares to be bought in small lots, on the open market and at market price, so as to not raise suspicion on intended actions until it's needed for legal & regulatory reasons.

Keep digging with them, Tom, to see what they may disclose to you..... I'm genuinely interested.

Scam a scammer, me? No.... I'd never do such a thing.  Wink

43  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Car Stickers on: April 22, 2016, 03:30:38 pm
I tend to keep a low profile on the drive to and from Le Mans to avoid the attention of the traffic police so I don't "sticker-up". The stealth car will have a discreet Club Arnage sticker on the boot lid though and a BMMC sticker on the windscreen. Give us a wave as you pass us......
Not long now!

We're defintely NOT low profile this year!
Still, there's always the Brethren to show you what "understated" is.  Wink

As per previous post we'll be driving up From Luxembourg early Saturday morning & will be heading back there - hopefully not via Germany this year - in the evening

Not back via Chermany this year, and the extensive roadworks in/around St.Vith are now finished.
Better news for me, I don't have to drive either way!
45  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Saturday CA Meet on: February 12, 2016, 04:23:32 pm
