Mark, I venture to suggest an Elan M100, you won't be surprised to know that I even know of a decent one for sale (not mine either) . There again I just read the final bit of your last post and he would be short of a couple of seats (did have a 4 seat elan for a few hours yesterday though ).

James,
Congratulations and well done. Once you have wheels, you will travel,, all first cars have a certain style, no matter what they are, because they are and always will be the first as far as you're concerned. Good luck in finding a vehicle.

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: What I enjoyed at Le Mans

I enjoyed it all apart from the minor bits that I didn't, but that's life and you take the good with the not so good.
In no particular order of preference the best bits for me were:
The drive down and visiting Scrutineering for the first time in 15 years.
The first BBQ on Tuesday evening.
Meeting up with old mates some only seen once a year at Le Mans.
Welcoming like minded people to Le Mans for the first time.
The Audi/Peugeot ding dong for the pole at the end of Wednesday Qualifying.
Comparing how different cars appeared to perform accelertaing out of Arnage in the wet.
The Wedding Part II at DFH on Thursday.
The drive out from St Sat on Friday.
The DFH party on Friday.
The outstanding hospitality and welcome shown to us by Nick's French friend and his Belgian, Luxembourg and German friends at their traditional pre race BBQ in Parking Blanc Saturday Lunchtime.
The first bottle of Champagne after the race started.
Sat evening in the Stella Bar at Tertre Rouge (another first after all this time).
The steak onion and mushroom baguette, eaten at 0300 Sun Morning on the MB banking.
Seeing the end of the race despite the rain.
Reaching a hot shower and warm bed on Sunday night in Abbeville.
The reaction of my kids when I got home (armed with presents)
Nothing bad really (other than the thievery, but this is the positive thread) we knew it was going to rain so avoided getting too wet.
Have to do it all agin next year.

Got back yesterday and this is first chance to post some important thanks. Firstly to all who attended and made Le Mans what is has always been, bl**dy good fun. The actions of a minority may well be a (growing?) problem but the vast majority of people there seemed to have the same good natured and friendly approach that I have grown used to at Le Mans, like minded people having a good time. More specifically thank you to Piglet and Keith for the invitation to the Wedding (PartII) on Thursday, a thoroughly enjoyable evening and an especial thanks to the DFH crew for both hosting this and for the awesome Friday night party absolute highlights of the week, Vinnies Vice were excellent and he can't half play that guitar a bit! Finally to the crowd I usually go to Le Mans with MGMark, Nick, Rich etc good company all as ever, same time same place next year?!

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Campsite Theft - BE AWARE !!!

I was part of the same group as MGMark and echo the sentiments of what was overall an excellent week trashed at the final turn by the scrotes. I initially thought it was a Bleu Nord phenomena as the site is so open and quite frankly unbelieveably quiet in the wee small hours. But I then got to thinking that Karting Nord, our home of the last few years is just as open if somewhat livelier. However it seems from the series of posts here that even sites that might seem a little more secure as they are less open and inside the circuit (MB) suffer the same rate of theft as elsewhere. In the past 15 years at Le Mans I have not been aware of a level of theft such as that reported this year, is it higher or is it just that it came closer this year? All sensible precautions suggested here are valid and as I don't seriously expect positive action from the authorities, ACO or Police (in fairness it is difficult to see what they could realistically do as an effective security presence throughout would be prohibitively expensive) sensible precautions (with the added benefit of hindsight) and a degree of self policing seem the most appropriate way forward

Plan for 10, 8 serviceable enroute, 6 arrive there, 2 won't restart, 2 breakdown enroute to the cafe = 2 at destination...... MG Mark Although I doubt overheating will be an issue for either the cars or the occupants Now if I ever get to bring the old one you may then have a point
