17  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: ACO Lounge Access on: May 08, 2018, 09:00:40 pm
Usually you need either a membership card or a wristband to get into the building, then they only check the grandstand ticket for access to the stand itself.

I wasn't aware of the Chinetti Lounge, where did you get the info?  do you have a link for it?

The Chinetti lounge is a new one on me too. As a 'long standing member' I've never been advised by the ACO of it's existence. A quick Google does not reveal much except an old reference to it on the Club website back in 2016 see here - https://www.lemans.org/en/news/24-hours-of-le-mans-vip-treatment-for-club-members/41185.

Perhaps it's existence was so poorly publicised that it wasn't used and now it is no more? More info please Rick101?

Just goes to show that F1 really IS the feeder series for the WEC :-)

Also confirmed for the other United Autosports car is Paul Di Resta http://www.dailysportscar.com/2018/03/30/paul-di-resta-completes-united-autosports-le-mans-line-up.html
20  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: choice of grandstand on: February 12, 2018, 01:35:58 pm
One other note if you want to guarantee staying dry - none of the grandstands are closed at the ends, so if it does rain and depending on which way the breeze is blowing you can still get pretty wet (I speak from direct experience!) so try to obtain seats about a third of the way up, and well in from the ends  Wink
21  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Alonso confirmed for Toyota Gazoo WEC 2018/19 on: January 31, 2018, 07:21:57 pm
Do feel he is pot hunting.

Agreed Barry, and it's probably his best chance with Toyota this year for the ultimate enduro prize (assuming none of the reliability issues of previous years...)  There is a part of me though that thinks he is an out and out racer and just wants to have a good go at it. Whatever, the exposure for the WEC will be welcome and it will be interesting to see how he does. Bummer for Davidson though Undecided

Interesting news: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/motor-racing/fernando-alonso-le-mans-24-hours-2018-2019-race-joins-toyota-mclaren-f1-driver-latest-news-anthony-a8185151.html ,  although Anthony Davidson relegated to reserve driver in the line up Sad
23  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Security at LM on: June 24, 2017, 09:24:48 pm
Security was more obtrusive going in and out of the various retail outlets in the village than it was going in and out of the circuit. A good, efficient job by the ACO I thought. Not often you can say that  Grin
24  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Le Mans 2018 Preparation. on: June 24, 2017, 09:17:21 pm
Accommodation already booked and confirmed on the day of departure. Just waiting for the usual online scrum/lottery for tickets when the ACO open up online sales around late October, early November time....
25  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Charity bike ride in memory of Neil Cunningham on: May 21, 2017, 10:48:48 pm
A family member who is friends with the late Neil Cunningham's wife made me aware of a charity bike ride that is taking place shortly in support of a Motor Neurone Disease charity. Just thought I'd post a link here in case anyone would like to contribute. Details here: https://www.justgiving.com/24hrstoLeMans2017

Excellent news Tom, good to hear. Maybe bump into you at LM or nearby hotel of significant historical interest ;-)
27  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Rebellion racing on: November 11, 2016, 11:40:09 am
With their experience in LMP1 and their budget, I think they will be a force to be reckoned with in LMP2.

Agreed!
28  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Ticket office for 2017 LM 24: 25/10 for members - 28/10 for general public on: October 26, 2016, 03:33:37 pm
Similar issues to some others on here. Managed eventually to get all required tickets EXCEPT the all important (for us) Tribune 18. Availability was showing for the tribune tickets but every time we tried to select our preferences the site responded 'your selection exceeds the current availability' which was odd as the availability was showing in the high hundreds and I was only selecting one! After numerous attempts I gave up and checked out with what we did have.

I then emailed the ticket office stating the problems we were having. They, to be fair, responded quite quickly with an old style order form showing our already ordered items, along with the 2 required tribune tickets. We have therefore secured what we wanted, but not by straightforward means.

Friends of ours had no problem at all and we were applying at much the same time!

Go figure......

29  Club Arnage / General Discussion / ACO online ticketing for 2017 on: September 25, 2016, 05:35:00 pm
Hi fellow CAer's.

Has anyone out there been advised of the dates when tickets for next year's 24 hours become available for sale online?

Although a member I haven't heard anything yet from the ACO.

I will email the ACO ticketing operation separately, but just thought I'd ask.

Edit: Had a prompt response from the ACO ticket office this morning saying that although the dates for the race are announced, they do not know yet when online ticketing will be available and to keep checking the ACO website for details. Oh well.....

That is a Facel Vega Excellence. I was unaware that they ever did one with 'suicide' rear doors. Always an education researching your photos Neil :-)
