46  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: 24H in a wheelchair! Advice on local transport... on: June 03, 2015, 07:58:49 pm
Hi easyrider64, and welcome to the CA forum. Cannot comment at all on the wheelchair access to trams etc. but can comment on the traffic in and out of the circuit approaching from the Laval direction. Until the last couple of years we used to stay that way (Evron-Mezangers) and commuted in to the circuit daily, using the D357 or the A81/A11, joining the D338 ring road near the university. Over 19 years we have rarely found the traffic to be that bad at all. There will of course be some queuing for whichever parking area you are destined for, and even then, as others have said only for Thursday night qualifying (when the locals come out in force) and on the Saturday itself when of course an early start is advisable. I reckon we have never queued for a car park for longer than 20 minutes going in on the Saturday am, arriving at the circuit around 09:30am.  Getting out a different matter, but wait an hour and a half or so post race, and most of it melts away. The LM authorities seem to make a much better job of managing it than some other major circuits I can think of.

Whatever you do have a great time, it won't be your last :-)

Could you be a little more specific, e.g what route do you take etc...
48  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Tickets have arrived... on: May 15, 2015, 09:33:52 pm
Hi Championaudi, don't want to worry you further, but we had ours (and some camping tickets for others) downloaded and printed on 23rd January and that was after a few shenanigans with the new system!  IIRC there was no specific notification by email from the ticketing website, we just kept logging in until the tickets we had ordered appeared in our account and then proceeded from there. Sounds simple but it was a bit convoluted, this is the ACO after all.....

Call me cynical - is it possible that this rumour/information was put out by the agency mentioned?
50  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Spare Hotel Rooms on: May 09, 2015, 11:08:04 pm
OK Mikeboz.

I expect to get confirmation of our alternative arrangements tomorrow afternoon, Monday latest.

My booking for the hotel in La Fleche is through Boooking.com. Currently held in my name on credit card guarantee. I'll explore the possibilities of how to make changes thereafter.

Will advise in due course.

Didn't know which board to post this in but thought I'd mention it in case anyone was looking for REASONABLY close, and reasonably priced hotel accommodation for the race this year and is having difficulty finding somewhere. Having spent many years travelling to La Sarthe I know how hard it can be to get. I have a room booked in an hotel in La Fleche that I will not be needing.

The hotel itself is Hôtel Restaurant Relais du Loir. Room is a double, for the nights of 12th, 13th and 14th. Details here: http://www.hotellafleche.com/

Before I cancel it, is there anyone out there that is looking for this type of accommodation?

52  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: The who, when, what in, camping where thread, 2015. on: April 22, 2015, 08:35:25 pm
Who: Team Pretzel (me and the missus)

When: Out Pompey to St Malo Wednesday night. Back Monday evening Caen to Pompey

What in: Porsche Cayman

Not camping. Hotel in La Fleche. Unfortunately we can't get in to Hotel de France in Chartre sur Loire where we lucked in last year. Shame as the place has SO much history.

Edit - Now in the Hotel de France, our place on the waiting list came good! Looking forward to it even more than usual now!

Hi Cecil,
The pre-race build up is worth watching from a grand stand ( tribune) seat.
While not low cost they are just cheap plastic seats. Bring ear protection.....the French announcer and the acoustics are both terrible and loud. Did we mention you will need an FM radio and ear buds under those ear protectors.
Phil

I wonder if the will use the Barcode for the stands this year.  If not it's a bit open to abuse with print your own.  With regard to the ink coming off in plastic wallet.  Last year i tried out using the "Red laser" app on my phone.  If you not familiar with "Red Laser" it's designed to scan and store "loyalty Cards" but it can be used for most bar codes.  The scanned barcode for my GE ticket worked just fine at the turnstyles.  I didn't try it at the manned entrances just in case they didn't like the idea. So this year I'm going to use that and just take self printed tickets for backup. Then keep it in a plastic bag to cover for the unlikely event of rain.  :-)

Thanks for the idea Tom, might give the Red Laser thing a try ourselves.

Hi Cecil, when you say E-ticket, do you mean those sold this year for the first time, to be delivered to the recipient by email as opposed to having physical tickets shipped?

If so, we have done this for this year and (apart from a couple of ACO IT issues, which are not uncommon) have received ours and printed them out. I also ordered on behalf of another CA'er and have sent them to him, and he has also printed them successfully. Certainly saves any worries about shipping, and I will do the same again for next year.

55  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: 24 Hours of Le Mans 2015 entry list on: February 05, 2015, 08:52:26 pm
14 P1 and 20 P2. This could be the start of a great era for Sportscar Racing. Even this years poster has a more traditional look than the last few .

What, no Dunlop Bridge! I think it will take a long time before the new pit straight leaderboard will be as evocative.....

Agree about the healthy entry list though. Here's hoping the majority make it to qually and the start.
56  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Bathurst 12 hours on: February 05, 2015, 08:43:44 pm
Anyone interested in this over the weekend (just to see the racing on Mt. Panorama is good enough for me) there is live streaming here: www.bathurst12hour.com.au

Enjoy!

Hi all,
Am I being inpatient but, print at home tickets , when are they e-mailed to you? ACO have taken my money........ Huh

Hi championaudi,

I have today received all my e-ticket files. They were not sent by the ACO, you have to log in to the your ACO ticketing account at http://ticket.lemans.org/ and download them. I had some difficulty with my sign in password but the ACO sent me a message back with revised login credentials after requesting and all was good.

Hope this is helpful,

Slash - if you're on here, you have a PM.

59  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Journey To Le Mans on: December 08, 2014, 07:11:24 pm

So is it worth asking Fr Xmas for the DVD?

Aricus

If you get it for free then there's nothing to lose :-) I also thought it was peppered with repeats of certain shots, and would have preferred more on their activities during Le Mans itself. There is a LOT of pre Le Mans stuff. The advertising about featuring McNish & Webber also only just the right side of accurate & true. They do appear, but only very briefly. Still worth a view though.

Help stop complaints from people who move close to a long established race track then complain about the noise.
