Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Le Mans 2023 - How was it for you?

It was all very busy. We were camping in Epinettes, prefer Expo. Not sure if Epinettes is better than Beausejour. Found ourselves opposite @lawnmowerman and @canadaphil. Always found the toilet and showers adequate, rarely did I queue for them.
Security on entrance to the circuit at Garage Vert were always friendly. Never tried to take glass or beer in but the questions was always any alcohol. Not sure if beer in cans counts as alcohol as never tried it.
It was busy at the circuit but set up on the inside of the circuit looking up the forests S's for the start, were there early as it was so busy. Stayed there for a coupe of hours after the start, then campsite for BBQ, back to concrete steps on Dunlop chicane for the evening, and where there on Sunday morning but too hot so watched end on the screen in the campsite.
Left Epinettes at 5 on Sunday, by 6 was at Tetre Rouge. Went cross country up to Le Rouen via Dreux, then motorway to the tunnel. Got to the tunnel at 10.45 missing the 10.50 crossing.
No real issues, just busy as expected.

6 of us this year - in theory. One applied for his passport renewal this time last year and didn’t get it in time. Unbelievably they still haven’t got it! So have just cancelled that application and reapplied. If they can’t come their son won’t either so we’ll be 4. 4 (or 2) going out Newhaven Dieppe Tuesday night back on Eurotunnel Sunday evening. 2 in camper going Dover Calais out Wednesday am back Monday. Staying on Epinettes, no grandstand this year. Invested the saving in one of these https://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/p/robens-observer-chair-D3112121.html

Last year we never had any problems getting beer in to the circuit. The beer was in cans and in our bags which were usually searched. Entered from Beausejour or the main entrance by the museum.

Full raceweek tickets including testday currently available for ACO members.
Every time someone has said this, which has been several times over the last few days, I’ve gone in and looked and see nothing available. EDIT - I tell a lie, I can actually see them now. Yes I have now bought some. On Monday I had given up all hope of going but then managed to get 3 camping tickets at Epinettes. Was pondering the week ticket less Friday but was undecided. However now have 6 full week tickets. Now all I need is a few returns on grandstand tickets! Although guess it will make a change to not have a seat.

Its suggested on Pistonheads that many ticket agencies havent sold any packages yet as they dont know their allocation. This would suggest there might be some returns in due course

So what happens when those with grandstand tickets dont get camping tickets?
After all if I am going to be camping at Beausejour I dont really want a grandstand at Dunlop I'd prefer to be at the Ford Chicane end? r of course if I dont get camping tickets I dont actually want any tickets!

All grand stand seats are sold out which seems a bit odd as they weren't all sold in February last year.
I havent organised general admission or grandstand tickets as thats not much point without camping!

On the spreading the cost when I bought my tickets I was able to spread the cost over 3 installments at no extra cost. No option to select a date they came out the bank though - not being the day before pay day would have been helpful!

I doubt they will be willing to climb the stairs to use the bridge.
Are there any stairs? On the Dunlop side it comes off the raised banking I think - its less clear what happens the other side. However would seem odd to build it with stairs these days.

A 2:30 start is unique. Not early enough to give more running before dusk but there must be a clash
Did we ever find out why there was to be a 4pm start this year.
And no sign of support races
I wonder if the earlier start time is to give the teams, retail units etc time to pack up before its dark? As regards the support races the email from the ACO on Friday so details of the support races would be provided later, which implies there will be some.
