My flight is booked already.
2  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Rest In Peace - Pidge ( Norm Golebiewski ) on: January 13, 2018, 03:50:26 pm
I received the sad news yesterday evening that Club Arnage member Pidge (Norm Golebiewski ) from Miami passed away on Friday evening.
He was 84 years old and had been in ill health for a few years now. Pidge travelled to Le Mans once and some of you may have met him there. Many of you will know him from Sebring as he regularly hosted Club Arnage members in his camp site at Sebring. Pidge was also a Sebring Fan Of The Year in 2006, an honour that meant a great deal to him.

I last saw Pidge at Sebring 2 years ago when we managed to get him there for 24 hours so that he could experience a lap of the track pacing the field for a support race. He loved every minute of it. I suspected then that it may be the last time I got to see him and sadly I was right.

I and many others will miss Pidge and his character greatly. Thank you to him for making Sebring so easy for the travelling CA members and his hospitality and breakfasts at Sebring are legendary.

My thoughts and condolences go out to David, Teressa, Katie Ramirez, Lucy Golebiewski, Mary Watson and his entire family.

Rest In Peace Pidge.

Werner,,

You will struggle making it to Sebring for 6 pm if you are picking up your RV at 2 pm as its at least a 2 hour drive when you are familiar and in a car, add to that the pick up and hand over tour of RV and stop off for supplies etc. However once Will Call closes, they move all the tickets to the small hut to the right hand side of the main entrance gate, so you can still pick up your tickets after Will Call has closed. Alternatively send them to Matt Harpers place.

La Quinta is as Matt suggested a good option as its a stagger back from Fish on Fire Restaurant.

Sold
5  Club Arnage / 2017-18-19 / For Sale - 1 x Bleu Nord Camping Permit on: May 22, 2017, 10:55:39 am
I have one spare Bleu Nord camping pitch that I wish to sell on behalf of a friend that can not make it over to the race this year.

The pitch is Place 86 , Rang O which is opposite The Bretheren's 4 pitches. It is also close to concrete fence line that separates BN from Parking Blanc.  Walking distance to the main entrance is around 5 minutes.

Tickets purchased via Team Langoustine @ a cost of £85 & I would like to sell it for the same price to recover my friends costs.

Thanks

I bought MFH 1/12 Lancia 037 kit as its my favourite rally car of all time. That was £400 and I hope to start the build this year all being well. I would love the Delta S4  to go with it but that kit costs around £600 so will have to give that one a miss. It is coming out as a 1/24 plastic kit though in 2017 along with an Audi S1 Evo from Beemax Models. So will buy both of those instead.
7  Club Arnage / General Discussion / R.I.P. Brock Yates on: October 06, 2016, 06:29:33 pm
Sad to hear that Brock Yates has passed away at age 82. Brock was the man that created the legendary Cannonball Run, an East to West coast race across America in the fastest time, on public roads to protest the new 55 mph speed limit in the USA.

Brock and Dan Gurney won the first race driving a Ferrari 365 GTB, after some hairy moments like hitting up an iced over bridge at 160 mph. His book Cannonball is well worth a read.

R.I.P. Brock, a man that dared to challenge the system.

I know sod all about current fashion or for that matter fashion for the last 42 years of my life, so have no chance of knowing anything about 1940's - 1968 Fashion.

Tom has put me onto Airbnb.co.uk and hopefully  I have found a room in Barnham which is about 10 mins away from Goodwood. Booking request has been sent and awaiting a reply.

Hoping that shoes, black trousers, white shirt, tie, braces and a flat cap will do for the dress code.

Very short notice but my dad and I have been given weekend tickets from a good friend that is unable to use them, having been given them himself as a thank you gift from the Stock Car Heritage group that have been invited to display their cars at the Revival.

This will be our first visit to the Revival but the short notice means we now have to try and find somewhere to stay at a reasonable price for my dad and I for Friday and Saturday evening. Crawley appears to be our best option price wise (£90 - £120 Price range) unless anyone knows or could suggest any other options.
11  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Bryan Clauson 15th June 1989 - 7th August 2016 on: August 09, 2016, 03:35:08 am
Sadly racing can be really cruel some times and we have lost another great naturally talented young racer Bryan Clauson at age 27, following a brutal accident racing a Midget at Belleville Speedway on Saturday evening.

Bryan probably isn't that well known to many of you, but at least a dozen of our CA members watched him race at the 100th Indianapolis 500 just a few short months ago. It was his 3rd start in the Indy 500 and his best one yet, recording a 23rd place finish in the race. Later the same day, he went on to Kokomo Speedway about an hour north of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and won that evenings Kokomo Classic Sprint Car Feature.

Bryan is a USAC Champion and this year set a challenge to compete at 200 race meetings in one season, racing in USAC Silver Crown, Midgets, Non Winged Sprints, Winged Sprints and of course the Indy 500. Belleville was his 116 stop on that 200 race tour and he had already won 27 features in 2016.

Bryan's list of achievements include.

3 Times USAC National Midget Champion - 2010, 2011, 2015,
3 Times USAC National Drivers Champion - 2010, 2011, 2012,
2 Times USAC National Sprint Car Series Champion - 2012, 2013
Non winged Driver Of The Year 2013,
Chili Bowl Winner 2014
2 Time Turkey Night Grand Prix Winner - 2009, 2010
Competed in Indy Lights,
NASCAR Xfinity Series - 26 races for Chip Ganassi Racing

Personally I only got to see Bryan race at Indy this year and at the Hoosier 100 a few days before the Indy 500, but I was looking forward to watching his extreme talent on the dirt ovals for many years to come and not least at the Chili Bowl in Tulsa next January, sadly I will have to make do with seeing him race only twice.

Condolences go out to Bryan's family, fiancée Lauren and all his friends.

Race In Peace Bryan.

15  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: 100th edition of the Indy 500 in 2016 - Anyone else planning to go? on: May 18, 2016, 10:36:58 pm
Only issue with this place is its the complete opposite end of the speedway from where our seats are and camping / parking lots. I know dad won't walk that far so we may have to leave it a bit after the race and then drive there once traffic quietens down.
