If you ain't funked to Kool and the Gang you don't have no soul. They are masters of funk, probably the best of their genre now James Brown is dead. If you like a tight horn section and a banging rhythm then there's little to touch them.

Top quality musicians, this is easily the best band since The Stranglers in 09. Bring it.

Tight horn section.

Banging rhythm.

Hur-hur-hur-hurgh...

So what are the ACO members-only areas like, now that I'm a member?
33  Club Arnage / Help / Re: Caen to Le Mans - help on: February 08, 2017, 10:24:09 pm
Provided you leave enough time to get from the port at Ouistreham to Caen station, the train ride is a very nice one. Not too many stops, nice scenery, punctual service and less than two hours from Caen to Le Mans. If you can get the 9am train then you're in Le Mans before 11, beer in hand.

Ticket and camping permit booked. Other kit mostly (but not all) assembled. Still some stuff to do, but well on the way to readiness.
35  Club Arnage / Help / Re: Beausejour Newbie on: November 25, 2016, 10:48:15 pm
TT  Beusejour i think is the only site you can buy direct from the ACO the others cost at least double 'cause of the agents fee. Marked plots of 30m sq . You will be surrounded by cars and tents unless you are against a fence/boundary. The access roads are kept very clear by the campsite dudes. Looks like your gang need 10 plots. Quiet places!!! Once the race starts!!!  If it rains and is flooded like last year there are a few high points and a secret dry place. Very near Porsche curves and the old cart track section. The shuttle bus/coach runs from outside the entrance. Plenty of shower/karzie blocks throughout site. Oh and a bar/dirty burger shed .

Based on my experience in 2014, don't under any circumstances let them make you camp on the tiny strip of grass right between the pond and the main access road into the site. I ended up leaving my tent behind because the leak/overflow from one of the toilet blocks effectively turned the pond into an open sewer.

Trouble is with a disposable bbq is Father Christmas can't slide down the chimney and bring you nice things. Fire places ROCK dude.

Sadly, I go on foot. Can't quite squeeze a fireplace into my rucksack.

I remember the days when we allowed more space for the swimming pool and the fireplace  Wink

I just buy a disposable barbecue, put it up on a couple of bricks and that works perfectly well for me.

Does that mean ticket agents will send them out this quickly as well?
39  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Audi to leave sportscar racing? on: November 15, 2016, 11:29:36 am
I was there when the 1972 Le Mans-winning Matra did a demonstration run, sounding like a real racer. Compared to that the Audi sounded like the result of a seedy backstreet knee-trembler between a lawnmower and an egg whisk.

Ticket and camping permit sorted.

I'll be on Expo as soon as it opens.

Interesting.  I was wondering how long it would be after "Dieselgate" that Volkswagen's 400 million budget would be slashed in half.  It seems they want to concentrate of the development of electric cars  Cry

And, as Audi have done pretty much everything there is to do in today's sportscar scene, perhaps the big cheeses in the VW group have decided it's Porsche's turn to add to their legacy.

Looks like the mighty four rings might not be at La Sarthe much longer.
45  Club Arnage / General Discussion / BMW to return to sportscar racing in 2018. on: September 27, 2016, 09:47:50 pm

Looks like the WEC's GT grids will have another heavy hitter re-entering the fray.

All good, so it seems, especially with Ford and Ferrari back there as well.
